Amazing, I bought a CVT nissan, and now it doesnt waste any gas at all, it just stands in the garage with a messed up transmission 👍👍

Just don't forget to change the fluid every 60-90k miles! And it needs to be a special fluid. Only do it at the dealership!
@Frost5174 жыл бұрын
Nissan would rather kill and bankrupt the company then put a transmission that makes it past 60,000 miles.

My Altima has over 100k with h just oil changes. i'm just saying. The Williams Formula one race carnproved that xCVTs are superior for speed andnperfomance. Keepingnthe enginenin its peak power band squeezes all the hpnout of an engine with good fuel economy-like drivingnin sport mode& eco mode at the same time. I just purchased a 2013 Sentra with a CVT at 67k+ miles. So far, I love it. I have done my research and I know that there are horrible reviews with CVT's going as early as 17,000 miles. I have sent the car into the shop already just to get an overview, and everything so far is fine. I also purchased an extended power-train warranty just to be safe, that gets me until 100k. If anything happens between now and 100k, which if you do your research, these CVT's tend to go between 30-80k, I only have to pay my $200 deductible. As I said, I love the car, I was lucky enough to find an SL that has all the bells and whistles and once you get used to the car not "shifting" as a normal car does, you stop freaking out so much. I called a Nissan dealership before my purchase and asked them how the CVT was supposed to work and what type of maintenance they need. Besides informing me of the information above (in fewer words), they advised every 30k miles to have the transmission drained and filled by Nissan. It's expensive - $200 - but Nissan is the only one I trust to do it correctly. They also mentioned the biggest reason these CVT's go is lack of this maintenance and overheating. Lastly, when I took it in for a "used car inspection" at a well-renowned mechanic in my area (Dykstra's Auto in Hudsonville, MI if anyone wants to Google them) and asked them if they see a lot of CVT cars come in with issues. The answer was surprisingly, no. The gentleman I spoke with did mention that he has seen some older Nissan's (early 2000's) that have had issues, but none of my cars age or newer. He assured me that as long as you maintain the transmission the way you're supposed to, you'll be fine. Hope this helps..

Great idea in theory, horrible in practice. We've got dozens of versa notes in our fleet. Almost all of them lunch that fancy mushbox by the time 80k miles come around. What's worse, when they fail, there is NO forward torque, just freewheeling failure as your car is stuck in the middle of an intersection or on a mild hill.

Aaron Koch what about Sentra? I've replaced the transmission under warranty once, and my warranty is about to expire... I'm concerned the new trans will die again 😑 any recommendations?

I've got a Nissan Armada with a 7 speed automatic. WAAAAAY better than the Muranos, Rogues, and Pathfinders we considered. I like Nissan, but their CVTs are just not for me. The Armada not only shifts super smooth but gets up and goes almost instantly. My mom's Jeep has an 8 speed but drives like a CVT with fake shifts because the transmission slips lol

Cvt is horrible I see so many people pass me on the road going up hill cause the cvt transmission doesn't have enough pulling power. The rpm it stays on is 6k and doesn't have a good pulling power uphill. I feel the engine is gonna blow up due to this issue

I like my 1999 Grand Marquis 4 speed automatic. Simple, Reliable old school tech that's perfected to go 300k+ low maintenance miles. I wanted an Altima originally but due to the poor reliability and renault quality, I have told everyone to not buy a Nissan with a CVT. I'm 18 and I like my grandpa car. I've rented an Altima and loved it too. But hey, I'll rent it for a few days and let someone else pay for the repair bills when the time comes knocking. Better safe than sorry. There's plenty of well built, more reliable cars out there than Nissans.

I'm a bit confused by CVT. They look simpler, but they are far more expensive to repair and maintain. I had one on my Subaru, changed the fluid every 50K, and had no problems and I traded it with 108k on the clock I figured I was on borrowed time. I wouldn't buy a used car with one. I expect 200K on a well maintained automatic. Although, to be honest I'd rater have a stick.
