This is one of the best repair videos I've ever seen done. No BS in the beginning, you just got right to work and skipped any unnecessary steps (most people would have kept the camera rolling while counting 26 turns of the outer rod... 26 turns to put it back on... all of their failed attempts to remove the inner, etc). Plus, it looks like you genuinely did a good job. Camera work was fantastic, I'm really glad you got a shot of that inner clamp on the rubber boot. It's almost impossible to see!

Very well made video, no extra nonsense or anything else you usually find on these "how to" videos. Came in very handy for me when my tie rod ends separated in my friend's yard at 11 pm and I only had basic tools to get it moved from blocking his driveway!

great video .. especially the part on the special lock washer that locks the inner rod from spinning off. I learned this the hard way. When I brought my car into the shop to have my car alignment done, the rod came right off during the alignment and I had to pay them to do it.... I was disappointed that I missed this step. I should have watched this video first. Thanks

Good vid. I'm doing this job on my Honda Civic this weekend. They only thing I'm doing differently is applying thread locker to the inner tie rod threads and waiting until after I bend the lock ring tabs down to apply any additional grease to the joint since it's a little easier to do without all the messy grease in the way.

Awesome video man. I must have watched 10 videos on tie rod jobs and none of them had that type of washer and my new tie rod came with one. I was unsure what to do with it until I saw this video. Thank you for uploading this video.

Awesome video my man. I'm slowly learning how to do things I've been paying mechanics for for years. They wanted almost $300 for a broken tie rod. The parts were less than $40. The tools I rented from AutoZone. The rest was labor on my part and it's done. KZfaqrs Rock!!!

Like I said having the right tools makes your job much much easier. Great video man.

I had done a few outer tie rod ends on different cars but never had to do the inner and this seems mad easy to do. Mechanic tried to give me an estimate of over 300 to do the damn thing! Thanks for the vid and saving me some cash bro!

awesome video , hadn't known about that washer and procedure of taking them off and putting them back on, also now know my inner tie rods aren't really all that short , they look about a foot long just like yours , i though they were longer but i guess videos make them look all extra long... couple feet longer.

I've got to replace the inner tie rod dust boot on a 99 Almera N15, looks like it shouldn't be too hard, just hope the inner tie rod itself hasn't gotten messed up from debris.

I think you don't need a crescent wrench if you loosen the nut on the outer tie rod end before you take it off, same for putting it back on. Great video though, it's the only one I found on the Altima and I'm going to do mine now. Thanks

Great video, thanks for sharing that. I have a 4th generation who's inner tie rod ends need to be replace. Can you please tell me if there is a difference in the process replacing tie rod ends between 3th gen and 4th generation.? Any help will be really appreciated.

@deadman1207812 жыл бұрын
I ordered a tie rod remover tool for $20+ tax from autozone. Basically just a beefed up muffler clamp with a 3/8" drive hole for your socket. part # 25296 Worked great for the Neon. But it really sucked having to loosen and tighten 2 nuts every half turn of the innter tie rod. Goosfraba.... goosfraba. 15- 20 minute job with the tool, without I spend about 2 fruitless hours under the car trying to get that rod off before fessing up and gettting a proper tool
@robwheeler37476 жыл бұрын
I dont have anything to put down to borrow the tool.. hoping I can get it loose with channel locks

+Степан Макухов It should probably be still pretty similar on those years
@RyanDale31112 жыл бұрын
When I jacked up the car and wiggled the tire sideways by hand I could hear a clunk from there and I could see the tie rod going in and out so I knew it was worn in that joint.
@12thpanzerHJ11 жыл бұрын
I used a simple crowsfoot wrench and socket to get mine off/on
@larryheller69636 жыл бұрын
Never hammer on a wrench! Much easier to loosen the tie rod nut if you put the outer tie rod end back into the hole.

has anybody done a 2003 g35 infiniti with a lock plate without tabs I can't find it anywhere
@nnajidimiri27567 жыл бұрын
cmoreno did you ever find an answer to this? It seems that they don't use that lock plate anymore.. Just the 'threadlocker' that comes with the inner tie rods now
@cmoreno46607 жыл бұрын
Nnaji Dimiri yea all I used was the blue one driven 3700 more miles sense then and no issues so far
@Nperez198611 жыл бұрын
Yeah that seems more legit. I don't see the reason for the washers, since technically the outer tie rod's nut and the outer tie rod itself would keep the inner tie rod from ever spinning out of place
@RyanDale31112 жыл бұрын
I didn't, maybe if one is bad enough it might. Shaking at highway speeds sounds more like a tire that's out of balance.
@RyanDale31111 жыл бұрын
Probably a couple of hours or so if everything goes good.

Great Video. I am not a mechanic. What should I pay to the mechanic who works out from his garage to replace inner tie rod on Nissan Sentra 2013?
@RyanDale3119 жыл бұрын
Rajeev Gupta I don't know. Sorry. I just do work on my own cars
@deasttn8 жыл бұрын
+Rajeev Gupta 9 minute video at $50 an hour, I'd throw the guy a $20 and let him keep the change :-) PepBoys quoted me $125 for outer tie rod end, so you can bet that the inner tie rod is going to be more than that (probably AT LEAST twice that much). A private mechanic would probably want a couple hundred bucks for the inner (just a guess)

@mrgoodbar21612 жыл бұрын
You really dont have to bend those tabs over just as long as you make sure to torque tie rod to spec and use one drop of blue loctite on the threads.
@wasatchm Жыл бұрын
are you sure? I was gonna say I have watched video after video on replacing tie rods on nissan economy cars and I have yet to see one where they even mentioned the washer with tabs.
@SilentServiceCode8 жыл бұрын
dude what's with the grease. this isn't a cake
@vrdublu11 жыл бұрын
Why would you not replace the outer tie rod while were at it? It's cheap, and you already had it apart. Oh, well good job other than that.
