E11 model. When your wires snap you may not be able to open the boot. You need to remove the trim from inside the car in order to manually open it. Apparently Nissan Leaf is similar. Possibly Qashqai etc too

Could not open the boot for nearly two months. Watched the video last night and completed the task today. Working fine now. Super video many thanks 👍😁

Thank you so much. Saved me a wedge of cash. As suspected it was the wires at the top RH side of the boot lid that was the issue but this video helped me get the door open so I could fix it.

Wires were in exactly the same condition (1 severed, 1 damaged) when I followed your video to fix them. Excellent post.

Brilliant, got the panel of in under 5 minutes. I started at the top rather than the bottom, separating the top from the side trim first. Now to figure out which of the 4 broken white wires joins which! Helpfully one is stripy

Nice clear video which makes all the steps clear. Fixed two broken wires and the boot opens once more. Looking at the condition of some of the other wires the problems will reoccur soon!

I found this video very informative and helpful. I have exactly the same problem and have already done this once before, about 18 months ago. Now it has happened again. The wires must have pinched or just come apart from the first time I soldered them. I cannot understand why 25 people have given this a thumbs down (trolls?). Thank you for taking the time and bother to put this on...it is most helpful.

One thing I noticed that the Isolation of all the cables was very dry and stiff, so after I fixed the broken cable I spray the silicone lubricant (McNETT) same one I use for the seals on my diving suit. it helps keep it more flexible much longer.. I hope I won't have to do it again. I live in a very hot climate so maybe is different for you.. in general works for me on a old rubber stuff like a door seals etc. i hope it will help.

Legend .. this worked a treat thanks. There was material stuck inside the lock but after i accessed the lock mechanism i could hold the lock open while trying to pull the boot lid open (needs two people). I initially pushed down on the boot which helped release the material.

Great help, yes, takes about 15 mins to complete. If you pop the bottom and go for the left top first it is easier to remove the plastic panel, don't need to put your arms up inside to release the top nd sides. Thanks for your time and help

Many thanks, wires broke just like the video at 92000 miles. Had a bit of the problem with manual release,, I think mine was at the back of the plastic block (nearest to number plate side) . Took out locking mechanism for investigation when eventually got boot open, removing 3 bolts, enough loom to pull out and have a looksie! Thanks again.

Glad I looked at your vid first before looking at neighbours Note - we have a Mondeo mk3 and no wires share the same colour... I am stunned that all the wires are white in the Nissan.. will be extra careful when I try to fix his boot catch. Thank you a thousand times for a concise video showing us how to.

Thanks for the video! It wasn’t the wires for me - the lock just got stuck. So after I (force) moved the white triangular yoke, it got stuck in the far right position, then I moved it back, put some oil there - works like before.
@QUARTERBAT5 жыл бұрын
Mine had a small white stub on the plastic block ou removed to open the boot , so I didn't need to take3 the white block, Just moved the stub and the boot opened. . Yes it was the wire as you showed. I had this into the garage 12 months ago for this problem, they must have just twisted the wires together. I don't use that gharage because of other issues GOOD VIDEO .

Hey great video tried this today took me less that 10 minutes to do thanks to your demonstration the black panel came off easier than I thought it would, how did you get on with the cut wires I have at least 4 wires cut on mine not tried them yet rained off for now try again tomorrow cheers
@waynesimpson20746 жыл бұрын
I've got 5 severed and I can't establish which is which? One of them has a permanent 12v supply (with the ignition turned on)? Rear wiper, rear demister element and tailgate lock are not working but no. plate lamp and washer working? I'm a bit concerned that I'll damage the body control module if I mis-guess the connections?

Thank you for this video. I had 2 cutted wires. When I fix one of them, I heard the lock sound. I was so happy, I also fixed the other using wago. Unfortunately nothing happened when I push the boot button. So the problem is elsewhere. Do you know if the boot button is also controlled by the same group of wires?
@coolhandslondon4 ай бұрын
yes it’s almost certainly one of the other wires in that bundle. some people find the break a bit higher or lower so have to try and look inside the rubber boot.
@thehoodedman19362 жыл бұрын
Handy to know what the problem is, but sadly I don't have the skill to do this myself and no soldering iron. I will take it into a garage asap, but would you know how much a U.K garage would reasonably charge for this dependant on how many wires needed soldering? I am just cautious at not getting ripped off.
@1_RC2 жыл бұрын
Could be up to hundred pounds I guess. 1 hour labour
@thehoodedman19362 жыл бұрын
@@1_RC That's what I guessed, but never want to surmise. I actually booked it in last month but cancelled when before they even started they went on about replacing the wiring and it being a piece they'd have to order in taking a day and then a day to fix. That raised a flag to me, like I say, even before they'd seen it!
