@@justonlyme6121 the version that came in the patrol was a RB30S which is a single cam, naturally aspirated engine, the RB25DET is far superior in almost every way.

@@bouldaa not for off-roading, I have a 90 patrol with this engine, it has no fuel injection or computer, it’s carbureted, it is purposefully made simpler for use and repair in remote areas. And as for power the rb30 turbocharged can make as much if not more than the twin cam head as evidenced by the results in Australian Holden commodores which have this engine, complexity doesn’t always mean superiority, and it’s not superior in capacity which always counts

@@justonlyme6121 I've had Nissan ecus living in water, it doesn't do much to them, besides that I've dealt with both and the 25det has a few other internal improvements which improve reliability (in theory). Considering I've seen both motors with several hundred thousand kms I don't think reliability is a problem.

@@2partiesnotpreferred226 A turbo'd engine with 416cc per cyl is not a strong engine. Strong engines are the ones that have low end torque. Not a single old turbo'd engine match that. With engines like this u only fuck the whole track, accelerating like crazy and spinning wheels like trying to get rid of ur rims.

Was just thinking the same thing... I'm poor now from health and other problems. Though through hard work in my young years I was fortunate to own a 250kw 13BT series 4 RX7 aged 18 and a mildly worked (by today's standards) VL Holden Commodore RB30 turbo age about 20. With almost everything you could modify for around $15k AUD ifrom the early to mid 00's it made around 360kw. it might have handled like a boat compared to the RX7 and have nothing on today's RBs, but that 3L, single cam engine, with a screaming 76mm turbo made it one of my favourite motors of all time. Pre Barra days.. They need an Australian fully built E85 tuned or straight up methanol turbo RB30 in one of these.

@@danielwitham1791 there are a few getting around, and they fly, though these days the Barra is the swap to do, there were also many Cleveland swapped gq’s back in the day as comp trucks, my 90 rb30 gq is stock as it came from the factory, and it does the job off-road on the farm
