Thanks mate.. M y 2011 Nissan Patrol Ti had trouble starting when cold.. I took that pressure relief bolt out and replaced it with a sollard one and the car starts great now.. :)

@@thelostlarrys9966 I don't remember,I have sold that car .but I also had two bad glow plugs, when I replaced them it started even better.

My ZD30 CRD stopped while heading back from Cape York. Mechanics in Cooktown changed the Fuel pressure regulator and it ran like a dream. They also said its a common problem with the CRD's.

Hay mate great vid. I think I’ve got the same problem. My Patrol won’t start without pumping the hand prime. And sometimes won’t at all. I replaced my pressure relief valve and I feel it’s running better more power using less fuel. I’m guessing the banjo is leaking.

Pressure relief valve is there for a reason. You can now crack the rail or worse start making oil because you will have over pressurised injectors which could start leaking off. Symtoms of over pressurised injectors over the long term is holes burned through the pistons, or big end failure due to oil dilution. Unfortunately the only fix is to replace the rail.

The Bosch pump has a mechanical pressure relief valve built into it to prevent over-pressurization.

What are the risks of removing the banjo bolt and replacing it with a solid bolt? How did you know that the new relief valve wasn’t sealing correctly? It’s seems like a pretty straight forward fit with a simple o ring seal. I have been known to be wrong before though. Thanks

I have a Nissan patrol ZD30 engine, it can't start when in neutral (auto) but it starts when in "park". When you drive for about 30mins to 1 hour and you stop when still in "DRIVE" too much black smoke, rough idling. What would be the fault?

With the banjo bolt out…..did you get any diesel coming out of the banjo/line when priming? I’m not getting diesel coming out of the PRV at cranking but some is coming out of the banjo/line.
