Thank you! This worked for me. I was getting the engine light on after 10 minutes for normal driving. I did my engine checks and reset the DPF error code, then went on the motorway for 30mins at 3000 revs (5th gear, 70 ish mph). I drove at low revs back to cool things down, and the engine light was still present. I shut the car off, then did another reset of the error code. I restarted the car, and engine light was gone. I drove for another 20 mins at normal rev range and the light remained off. I've been out again today, and checked for codes (all clear), and checked water and oil. Another test drive for 30 mins at normal pace, and everything is fine.

I had the red management light come on when I was doing a drive to regen. The error code was also P242F. The times I cleared the code the car was cold and when going for a drive the red management light would come on as soon as the car was warm. I followed this video, but instead of starting with clearing the code while the car is cold. I drove until it was warm, stopped to clear the code and went for a 30 minute drive at around 2500-3500RPM. The red management light never came back on. I also had a problem with terrible throttle response at low RPM, and the 30 minute drive after clearing the code must have done something because that problem has been somewhat resolved. So thanks for the video!

What you did was perform a driving DPF regeneration , ideal is to do a oil and filter change after this too as the sooty exhaust dirt can go down into the engine oil and through the oil filter . Well done for persisting .

Esceque vous avez résolu le problème de voyant ?car je possède une Qashqai 1.5 tekna j'ai enlevé le voyant avec l'OBD mais il revient chaque fois. Esceque mon problème se n'est pas le capteur de pression du FAP?

Once the ash counter shows the DPF to be full do you know if if can be reset? Just had an issue where the intercooler pipe to the egr split and I had to drive it whist waiting for a new pipe. About 5 miles before fitting it the check emissions light came on.

My cheap code reader shows the ash level. It could be choked with soot rather than ash so a long drive, high revs could clear it. Check for codes before just to see what's happening.

Thanks for posting this video. I am facing the same problem with my qashqai. EML stays on and scanned by using OBD reader getting exactly the same dpf code plus p0299 code. Should i give it a try?

P0299 indicates turbo under pressure so could be related to blocked dpf. Take it for a run similar to mine but clear both codes before hand. Check intercooler pipes for any splits or oil leaks indicating splits or jubilee clips not done up tight enough. Top tip is don't use supermarket diesel.

There's a plastic pipe on top of engine on right side that is prone to cracking. Easy fix part is about 20 quid and you need a flat head screwdriver and 10mm spanner or socket. If it's been cracked for a while you might have the dpf error codes too

200 miles on and no dpf codes recorded. Ash is a worry as it's a product from burning soot. Once ash fills the dpf it needs to come off and flushing. I also note now my glowplugs are toasted. That means more soot produced on startup as glow plugs take more of an emissions role these days than starting aid.

@@andrewzaborowski9685 The car had about 100k miles on it so at this mileage i would expect some kind of failures with the plugs. Other way is to pop them out and measure resistance or just leave em in place and get a temperature ir gun and see which ones dont heat up.

Hello, I have a big problem with my 180d w177 class, all of a sudden in acceleration the turbo locks up, the strange thing is that the turbo works, it has no leakage from the air circuit, tried with the smoke generator, I it only gives an error in diagnosis: the turbocharger does not communicate with bank 1 exhaust gas, I turned to 3 mechanics but they all tell me they don't know what to do with me, I personally disassembled some sensors to clean them, but I can't get it to work, nothing variable geometry actuator seems to be working, any idea what it could be?

Regular long journeys and revving the car through the revs often should keep the dpf in shape, shorter trips with diesels isn't good especially with dpfs

Hi, i think i have the same problem but i have more fault lights on: red and yellow engine lights and also EPS(i think that's the name - the anti drifting one). The main symptom is lack of power for a couple seconds now and then, right?

I'd get a code reader like the one I use to try and see what codes you have. Once you have them written down clear them and see what the current ones are. I had bad glow plugs, injector open circuit, dpf and the last one was the exhaust pressure sensor. Don't use cheap diesel if you have the dci ie supermarket, but use BP, Shell or Esso. You want the engine running as cleanly as possible. I think the next issue will be the EGR valve and in your case with power issues you may already be experiencing that. Injector cleaner such as Forte wont hurt.

@@ionhomitchi6326 yep fixed. You need a cose reader like mine to see all the problem codes then work on them one by one. The reader I had even read the sensor for the amount of ash in the dpf.

I have the red engine management light on. Ive just taken it for a run as you suggested in the video. Can I ask, does the engine light go off straight away or do you need to carry on driving until the light goes off or does it need the code erasing using a scan tool?

On mine the light went out on it's own. Always good to get a scan though to see exactly what's going on.

The DPF pressure pipe can block on the 1.5 and 1.6 dci engines and /or the rubber pipe can split at the top where it connects to the differential pressure sensor .

Glow plug heater circuit means that one or more of your glow plugs are faulty, easy fix

Remember though the regeneration process uses fuel and if it fails it dumps said deisel into your engine oil! which is why an engine oil change is needed after a regen

My process relies on high revs high exhaust temp so particulate filter is naturally burning off soot without a regen occuring.

@@fiveminuteman nice wish i could try it my car won't get upto 3k lol, i got one guy suspects that it's a turbo issue causing the P242F-75, As he has hooked it upto tech2 and everything seems normal apart from high dpf pressure whilst accelerating leading him to believe its t overboost, plus the turbo is caked in oil, but then the guy at vauxhall reckon the turbo shouldn't affect pressure in the dpf lol

There is a very simple cleaning operation for cleaning out the sensor pipe. Problem solved.

Yer bit of fiddling but pipe cleqned up nicely. Just avoid supermarket diesel and dont drive a diesel if you live in a city or town.👍

Confirmed! Just clearing the DTC has made the ECU retry a DPF regeneration on first drive. Last year I added a sort of DPF regeration alarm sound (arduino/esp32 based DIY thing) and I would occasionally hear the DPF regenerate but the last month and a half I had no single regeneration which worried me. I read the DPF soot level, it was at a whopping 66 grams (should never get above 25 or so) -- you can read this from SID 22 PID 242c (called PR383 "Weight of soot in the DPF") on canbus. I had two DTCs, cleared them and on the first drive the ECU started a regeneration after 2 minutes of driving. 15 minutes later the soot level was back at 4 grams! Another symptom was that SID 22 PID 2055 (called ET838 "Combustion mode setpoint") would always sit at 4 ("DPF cooling") instead of 1 ("Normal") while engine was running. Stupid renault ECU firmware somehow gets into this mode where it won't regenerate the DPF. I fear how that ends for most unaware drivers. Next time you know your engine loses power, pressure builds up in some of the piping, the intercooler pipe bursts, turbo seals break, etc. All of this has happened to me before with this engine. The garage charges you for a new turbo, new DPF (or mechanically cleans it if you're lucky -- the chemical cleaning never seems to have any effect), filters and manhours.

Cheap and risky process as you can cause a mechanical issue to your engine doing this as you are reving it while it cannot breathe properly at the end you could end up with much higher costs. I rather recommend to find the root cause of the ashing up in your dpf, check your injectors, EGR valve, turbo, sensors… After such manual regeneration I definitely suggest an engine oil change. However thanks for the video…

The dpf isn't full up and choking the engine, revving to 3k is fine. Issue never came back. Probably being a city car didnt help with its previous owner. Now a countryside car so no traffic jams or regens.

Load of rubbish, this is quick fix for a week. Once DPF is full you need to replace, most car manufacturers recommend you replace at 100,000
