This was great. My rear drain hoses were blocked also. They also have those stupid plastic ends that the mud builds up. I found the two tubes, one is easily accessible from the rear housing in the boot which has the jack. The other side is a bit trickier need to remove the side trip..it's mainly push studs but a few screws for the tie down hooks and a crew under a blanking plate. Removed the plastic studs and cleaned out and now water is flowing great!

@@sabullis no sorry didn't take a video. If you look in the rear jack housing you can see one of the drain hoses. The other is on the opposite side..but you do need to remove the plastic trim on the boot sill..then remove some of the side plastic trim to get access.

I have never worked on a car before. Thank you so much for the detailed explanation. I've been dealing with it raining on the inside of my car for about 3 of the 5 years I've had this vehicle. We can fix it now. As far as I'm concerned, Nissan owes me a new interior on those two posts.....I'm so blazing mad with them atm.

Yes, my Nissan 2017 Rogue leaked water into the interior over the past few months due to a clogged drain. I paid the local dealership $300 to unclog the drain. It was still wet when returned to me. They say it will cost $4000! to repair. There is a very strong moldy smell that they say requires all new undercarpet and possible new front passenger seat. Nissan Canada said the warranty is up for the drain. I had no idea that the drain was part of regular maintenance. I had not gone regularly to them for service but was there in May and nothing was said about nor was cleaning the drain listed on the bill. I too am so frustrated with their response. Any thoughts on where to go next? Myrna Clark, Barrie Ontario

I have had the same problem with my car and refuse to pay Nissan $400 for a diagnostic test. Will probably never buy another Nissan again after this fiasco of water getting into my car.

I too paid 375 for this ridiculous problem to be solved.. literally 3 days ago. But its been a recurrent problem for me, since 3 years ago. Wish i had search for this amazing video sooner. Thank you so much for this fix. Removing that stupid plug is a complete game changer. One of the best modifications to be made on this car. Got quite a lot of rainwater coming out of each drain pipe when i ripped off the caps on my 2016 xtrail t32. Will try and find the rear pipes to do the same.

Wow, someone who actually explains and, mostly, shows every single step of the fix. I have already managed to establish that it's the tube and not the drain that's the problem (through less helpful advice, but still a step closer than I had been) and now I'm happy that I can do it myself. Thanks so much! Bloody Nissan dealer couldn't find the reason for the water collecting in the foot wells after two visits to them. Googled the issue and your video came up. Tested the water draining from the sunroof and that was exactly the problem. I am very far from being a mechanic but your video gave me some confidence to try the fix. Just completed it and water is now draining away like a river! Took about 40 mins from start to finish. Cheers!

Previously we had a terrible thunderstorm which resulted in my cupholders being full of water. I’m so glad I found your video! THANK YOU. This is a MAJOR design flaw that Nissan should recall and pay for. Our interior might be ruined now and the car was pristine before. I’ve seen MANY people experiencing this problem and Nissan acts like they aren’t aware. WHO would like to participate in a class action lawsuit against Nissan??

I took my 2015 Rogue to my local garage and they were telling me that something in the sunroof was bent which equaled an expensive fix. Nice to hear that this is a common problem and the cure is straightforward. Now I don't look like I wet my pants when I go somewhere in the rain. Thank you so much for this.

I cant even tell you how much this helped. I recently had the problem and water was coming through the sunroof and even down where the sunglass compartment was. I called a mechanic and they advised me to make an insurance claim or it would cost about $350. Your video was great and I was able to do it myself. I felt accomplished and you have taught me something. Great video!!!!

Thanks! Worked like a charm. Clear and concise video. My only comment is that the "tools needed" are a little much. You really just need a 14mm socket, some needle nose pliers, and maybe a small flathead to help pry off the tabs. Super easy fix!

Thank you so much. My wife has been frantic. Every time it rains it fills up her cupholders. And today as she was backing out of the driveway she got at least a cup of water on the head. We have taken it to the dealership two times for this issue, and they never have been able to resolve it. And now we can’t seem to make the overhead Console stay in place. Thanks to your video we were able to fix it ourselves, and now it’s fixed properly. No more water on the head or wet car. Thanks again!

@@Reneedrose yes! It did. It was advanced for me, but doable. I took everything apart like in the video, and I basically ripped the nubs off those white filters like he showed. I haven't had any leaks since I did it last summer. Good luck!
