La noche del 13 al 14 de Agosto como cada año se celebra la tradicional Nit de l'Albà o Noche de la Alborada en Elche. Durante más de 45 minutos seguidos, incuso antes, miles de Ilicitanos lanzan fuegos artificiales en memoria de sus difuntos con motivo de las fiestas de la Virgen de La Asunción. Al mismo tiempo se lanzan diferentes palmeras, cohetes y fuegos artificiales a la vez por diferentes puntos de la ciudad, hasta dejar paso a la palmera de la Virgen, que será lanzada desde la catedral. Una enorme palmera con un ratio de 500 metros, iluminará toda la ciudad durante unos segundos para tras ella, poder observar la silueta de la Virgen de la Asunción, patrona de Elche, iluminada en el cielo de la ciudad. Una preciosa tradición que vienen celebrando los Ilicitanos desde la Edad Media.
