but the ring havn't formed in the junction...its on the top layer...why???

samrat sarkar actually, he hadn't neutralized na2co3 and that's why he got a ppt of fe(oh)2 and thus, somehow, he removed the precipitate and thus brown ring was not formed.

Plz try the below experiment Add sample solution, a similar volume of dilute sodium hydroxide solution and a small amount of aluminium powder. Then observe it on a red litmus paper which will turn blue.

Uuhh i think u have to neutralize the sodium carbonate extract with dil. HCl......then add FeSO4 and conc. H2SO4

Sir, please boil off co2 gas by adding suitable dilute acid so that carbonate ions of excess sodium carbonate present in the soda extract does not interfere with the reagents.
