I have one of these boats and had it out on lake of the woods last year. I was amazed at the performance, it took the big waves very well

I been using my late step dads 1997 Z17 nitro with the 120 mercury force it just kicks ass i done some tuning on it pulls 55 to 70 depending on the weight i have in the boat and how smooth the water is, i just love it re carpeting it right now redoing the seats i think it is best boat ever hit some really ruff water it has always got us home safe.

Back in the 90's Nitro was having issues with there boats mostly cheap quality. A Cheap price is sometimes looked at as a cheap product. Today Nitro has makes one of the best boats out there. Even with that said, sometimes the stigma of poor quality lingers with a manufacture for a long time. As is the case with Nitro. Slowly they are turning that around. Today I believe Nitro makes one of the best boats out there.

Why do NITRO boats have such a bad reputation?

There is nothing impressive about that boat in those seas, ultimately that boat is not designed for that type of sea conditions. Showing that boat idling head on into those seas does not prove sea worthiness. Hopefully no one was fooled by the test where he runs on plane in a following sea, again shows nothing. At the point where he was quartering the seas that boat was suffering some bone jarring hits, as expected. I will never own another tracker marine product again. Anything tracker marine touches turns to garbage, and Nitro boats certainly fall into the garbage category. Brian O'dell you are incorrect Nitro still produces garbage, if you truly believe they are the best out there then you aren't looking very hard at other brands.
