I owned a taxi company and I had crown vic's with 2 million miles on them and I would have to replace that rear end at around 1.5 to 1.8 million miles. You can't kill that car. I don't know why you think you need to replace that rear end but ok I guess. Those cars are very easy to work on. I would swap the motor in around 3 hrs a trans in around 1 hr. And a rear end in 1.5. Its a very easy car to work on.

I have a Toyota Echo 2000 model and it has 338k miles just regular maintenance and that's it aside to a piece replaced for the ac that wasn't the compressor ..so pretty good. Iv had a few Hondas and Toyotas and never ever had an issue and I ran em pretty hard. Not like stupid but I am just saying. Ford..the new stuff over past 10 to 15 years or better had been shit and chevy has gotten the same way Ls engines and auto trans have multiple issues. DODGE...idk never had one but they have some junky shit like neon dart (Chrysler) has some crappy stuff (pt loser etc) ford 9 inch is the go to though for sure.

So……. it was not clear why you needed to take out a perfectly good 8.8 to put in a whole new 8.8 other than because it was maybe free from Quick Performance? Or did you guys buy that? A gear swap to 4:11’s would have been easier. Are drum brakes somehow required for burnouts?

I frown on Toyota. My son was driving his friends Prius and the power brakes went out 1,500 miles from home. It has been a known problem with them since 2008 yet no recall. Only Toyota makes the parts and the repair is 3,000.00. All the parts are backordered so no idea when it can be repaired. We had to drive 600 miles one way and bring him and his dog here so he could fly home. He will have to fly back when it is repaired. Toyota had a TSB that expired in August of 21 and would not replace any parts until they failed. Since it is now 2022 Toyota told him to pound sand and won't fix the very well known problem. On a side note All manufacturers probably do the same, but how can you have the same problem for 14 years and not have an actual recall ?
