I have a 2016 Hellcat, on the street on 10.5 inch Hellcat Wheels I run 315/35/20 nto5 nittoes for street driving. Although I have run a 1.61 60ft in the qtr mile. I also run 305/45/17 MT ET sreet r tires on 17in wheels. Best 60ft 1.47. These are drag only, however they are completely legal to drive on the street. The nto5r nittoes work well on the street. @@RTLife So real bias ply tires have no side walls or steel radial belts. They are by definition squishy. When I run them I run at 15.00 PSI and on launch with the Hellcat they take the hit and act like a spring instead of spinning. Totally recommend with forced induction.

I'm running some Nitto NT 555 G2 on the rear. I went with 275/40-20 because of price. I only paid about $200/tire for these Nittos. I am reasonably happy with them so far. The true test will come once the autumn rains start. Still have the craptastic Badyears on the front. Next summer, I figure some M/T ET Street SS 305/35r20 part number 3402 for the rear, or just the same tires, but in 305 or 315, the 10.5 wheels can fit either just fine. ($400 on summit, kinda pricey, and only about $75 less per tire than the Toyo r888r tires) I'm not sure on the fronts yet. Wheels are the Factory Reproductions FR73 (Dodge Demon replicas) in satin black 10.5 for the rear, and I'll be getting the 9.5 ones for the front when finances allow within the next three paychecks. When all is said and done though, I don't really need drag tires on the 392 Charger. The Barracuda with the little (naturally aspirated) 360 being built and only three speed a727 Torqflite will walk all over the Charger at the track.

@@RTLife I know I'll get pretty deep into the 11's with my simple build. I may make it into the 10's if I'm willing to sacrifice driveability on the street, check out Simpsons Speed Shop, he has a nice build. Solid Flat Tappet cam Lunati 30200740, Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 264/272 ;Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 235/243 ;Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .525/.546 ;LSA/ICL: 110/106 ;Valve Lash (Int/Exh): .016/.016 ;RPM Range: 2400-6600. With this cam, I could probably get away with a torque converter in the neighborhood of 3,000. Plans call for some really light weight valve train components, The tool steel (reusable) lifters weigh in at 90 grams, but there are some significantly lighter 78 gram lifters which I am leaning towards. 1.5:1 adjustable ductile iron rockers instead of roller tip rockers. I am looking at reducing the number of moving parts, and the idea of a roller tip rocker losing its bearings is most unappealing. I have the new internal balanced SCAT crank sitting next to me as I type. (the Chrysler LA 360 was built as an external balance engine ) Forged I-beam connecting rods, rather than H beam (H-beams generally weigh a bit more and as a *general rule* are a tad bit better for strokers like your build). Pistons KB-107 Hypereutectics, going with them over forged because well, the solid cam will make enough noise, don't need the piston slap when the engine's cold on top of that. Heads are either the TrickFlow 190's, or the ProMAXX Shocker 185's. I have heard good things about both sets of heads over on forabodiesonly.com and the above cam is not pushing the ProMAXX to it's limit, so right now, the TrickFlows are just more than I need, and significantly more expensive. Intakes are going to be tested, Offenhauser single plane dual quad, Edelbrock dual plane dual quad, and there's the RPM AirGap, which I suspect will probably outperform both of the dual quads, but I do need to stick with some old school stuff for the eye candy. Fuel delivered by a pair of Eddy AVS2 500cfm carbs. Exhaust is a set of Doug's D453 going through a 2.5 Summit cheapy exhaust and an H-pipe. I have read from various sources that H-pipes will deliver a fraction of a percent more torque, and the X-pipes a fraction more horsepower, the difference is negligible. I've been thinking on electric cutouts, although I doubt that I will get any performance increase. My math (if I got it right) on my scavenging is about as good as I can get, whether it goes out the tailpipes or the cutouts is kinda immaterial Trans is a standard a727 with a Transgo TF2 shift kit and the rear end is a Strange S-60 with 4.10 and Eaton tru-trac, since I do drive this on the road. Biggest tires I can fit without cutting the car are 255's. I suppose if I were to give it the classic muscle car stinkbug stance I might be able to fit some 275's. But, that would screw up the geometry. Rear seats weigh about 80 lbs, they get to stay in the shed. I can drop about 100 lbs off the front of the car with a fiberglass front clip. I could personally afford to lose 30 lbs. And, as long as I stay in the 11's, I don't need a cage. edit: Oh yeah I forgot to mention, Sears Point/Infineon/Sonoma Raceway is about 15 minutes from my work. heh

Having run the NT05R at 315/35r20 and the MT ET Street S/S at 305/35r20 at the drag strip I can say the MTs are definitely better in my opinion. I'm assuming that would translate to the street as well but my street use was limited to driving from the house to the drag strip and back. I would say from one of my experiences on the way to the strip if the road has any bit of gravel or debris on it if you don't do a burnout to clean the tires off they are practically like being on skates. I made the mistake of assuming since they were DRs I could just stab it at a light and everything would be golden but no I ended up almost sideways.

I like M&H Racemasters drag radials over the Nitto NT05s and the Mickey Thompson ET Street R. The M&H Racemasters provide good grip. In addition, the M&H Racemasters are better in the rain if you get caught in it on the way home from the dragstrip. Mickey Thompsons are good at the dragstrip. However, the compound is very soft and they wear out quickly even for a drag radial. If I had to pick between the Nittos and Mickey Thompsons, I would take the former.

For true street strip i prefer the new NT555RII tires they make them in around 28 inches from 15 to 20 inch wheels, and priced much better than. R888R which doesn't make a 305 45 17.... So I basically run a hybrid drag pack daily...18x5 with 27.5 tire 17x10 with 28 tire...trans went out but they have rain channels and I got 1.6x out of the first pass.... I've bought 50 pairs of MT SS tires since they come out and about 1 out of every 3 pairs simply never balance properly...these needed almost no weight to balance $246 for 305 45 17 and qualify for most hard radial classes with active rain channels, first truly New Street strip tire since the SS

Nice but ........................ how about a sticky tire we can drive in the rain ? Years ago I got caught in the rain with 2 grove cheater slicks. Hydroplaned , headed for the front window of a dry cleaners store. But hit the cement filled 12" pipe protecting the front widow. Soooo strip tires belong on the strip, keep them there ! Getting street tires, real street tires that really hook is the BIG problem !

@@2141mario i could spin 275 20s in those tires on a bolt on 07 gt500 (550 rwhp 4.10 gear) into 3rd gear. I don't mean turning them over i mean spinning 2nd and short shifting 3rd and drifting sideways up the street through 3rd. Now with 305/45/17 et street r it will dead hook 2nd from 40 and when they were newer and it was warm outside they would dead hook 1st and only spin em over a little on a hard 1 to 2 powershift. I have 6500+ street miles on them majority of the tread they had is gone but they still hook pretty damn good. Very solid tires im def getting them again I love being able to do 1st gear pulls and really break peoples necks lol. Going with a larger 315/50 this time

R/T Life Go with the Toyo R888R tires and never look back, they hook like no others on the street or the strip. R888R is the way to go if you are under 1000hp, proven to be the best sticking tire.
