The speech that Pres Nixon gave while overlooking the Great Wall is amazing ! Such words of grace, wisdom and diplomacy. (His children must be so proud of their father.) All leaders should speak as such. No wonder he won them over !!!!!

Actually the background music at 6:31 when Zhou Enlai proposed a toast is ""大海航行靠舵手 (sea sailing depends on the helmsman)", a song that praises Mao during culture revolution.

Nancy Tang, Premier Zhou's personal translator, was born in New York City, NY in the 1940s, and spent her early education in America. Sec. Kissinger once joked that Ms. Tang is eligible to run for president but he can not.

Fun fact, Nixon decided to visit the great wall and said it just on the day before, It was winter and snowy back then, The chinese government gathered hundreds of people overnight to clean the snow on the road to the great wall, so that the next day Nixon's convoy could drive to the great wall safely .

Hi James, I'm glad you like it! That song was made specifically for the video. Ryan (the one who also edited the video) wrote and recorded the song to fill in for some footage that didn't have any original audio. It's an instrumental version of another song of his that has yet to be released.

Her name is 唐聞生,other 2 lady interpreters were 王海容、章含之, all were in the film too。But 3 of them dressed the same color, same dress code and the same hair styles, which might make ppl unable to distinguish them at once. 2 of "Gang 4" were in it too. Sit Just next to Premier Zhou's left, the one next to President Nixon.

Only in this VISIT to China did RICHARD M. NIXON reveal Himself as a Statesman of high quality, which future Histories will always see as self evident. NIXON as Politician and Party Leader is another matter, not completely self evident, more gray than white with a little grayish tinted white, but darker and darker grays leading to some undefinable black areas or border lines...

See a lot of shooting lens's way, looking out out of China's despise, China's people who never forgot the country's destrils to bring the deep feelings, for our predecessors napped weight and move, to build a powerful motherland and glory, a most common Chinese expression, of course our cute American people can also be our friends, for the history of the history of writing a great chart.

The key persons were Nixon and Chou. Chou was the front man running the show in this visit and Chou health was fine in 1972. Chou died of cancer four years after the historical meetings. Without Chou, Chinese government might not dare to go ahead staging this event.

But even that's not a good comparison. (Obama in N. Korea) There is really no comparison today, because the cold war is dead & there aren't any proxy wars. Also, China's involvement in Vietnam lessened after Sino-Soviet split in 1968.
