Many coaches have interviewed with the Devils, and soon enough one will be hired. The loudest chatter seems to center around Craig Berube, Sheldon Keefe, Todd McLellan and Jay Woodcroft.
There have also been rumblings about Mike Sullivan potentially leaving Pittsburgh.
I discuss the Head Coach search, as well as throw out my 2 totally off the board candidates that I would like to see coach the NJ Devils.
I once again discuss Brady Tkachuk and the noise surrounding him coming to the New Jersey Devils.

Love the respect you’re giving to the thunder! Fantastic run to be crowned KINGS OF THE NORTH! Brodeur was amazing in his win. Saved the series with his win in game four and has been a leader among men in the locker room all series long.

@chriswilson4980 Gotta give props to the Thunder! What a fun team to watch. A true scrappy group. I wish I could catch a Jeremy Brodeur start live. It seems as though they are going to ride Poulter hardddd, and only give JB a start when they think Poulter has been run ragged. I have a feeling these guys may go all the way to become Kelly Cup Champs! I have fallen in love with them. LET'S GO THUNDER!!!

Larry Robinson will be 73 in June. He's already done it all... Times over. No way in hell I see that happening. I think he even went to California just to be closer to his family. Fun to dream, though.

It sure is worth it and the fan base up there has always been great. It’s a cool hockey town and great arena The GF civic center (now called cool insuring arena) has great views of the ice and steep seating angle. This next round hopefully goes well for em. The kids over from Utica for seasons end are gutting it out. Hockey has such a great organizational structure. On to round three!

You should replace Fitz. You seem to get it and Fitz does not. 100% agree with everything you said. Someone needs to put Brady Tkachuk 's name on the list..maybe Scott Gomeze's trick would work I t got him in

Man, if Larry Robinson wanted to coach, he'd be great. He's in his 70s now. I thought he said he was done coaching. Oates is a good call too, if he wants the job. Woodcroft and Keefe, ... meh. Todd McLellan, extra-meh. Might as well have Travis Green. Berube would be great. Sullivan or Dineen, worth a try. Interesting that Toronto seems to be waiting. I like BrindAmour as a coach but I don't think Carolina can win the way they're structured. They play hard, but all their scoring feels like secondary scoring or scoring-by-committee. Also, the further they go in the playoffs the more they're going to run into the Shersterkins, Bobrovskys, and Swaymans, who are all better than what they have. Not a big fan of Freddie Anderson. Still, I'm really hoping Carolina wins game 6, just to see the Rangers fans panic. Asking for the reverse sweep might be a little too much. ... But how delightful would that be?

@bted I think Larry said he was done in 2003, lmao. He kept getting pulled back in. I think he COULD be the right guy to get this group to the next level. If I was Fitz, I definitely call him and try to lure him here for at least a couple of years. Then he go back into retirement and enjoy his life. Oates is a hockey wizard for sure. He sees things that nobody else on the planet would. He would be another call I would make if I were Fitz. I am hoping we end up with Berube (because I think Robinson and Oates are complete pipedreams), but there seems to be a lot of things holding this all up. I do think Carolina may be one of the MANY teams competing with the Devils for a goaltender this summer. It may get messy out there. I will be watching that game tomorrow hoping for a huge Canes win. The reverse sweep would be one of the greatest things I have witnessed in my hockey fandom.

I want to agree with you about getting an experienced head coach. Guys like Ruff seemed to have success going back before 2005 when the 2 line pass was prohibited. Totally different game these days. I am thinking about perhaps a coach/former player from the modern era. Do you like any less experienced candidates?

@anthonymanganaro9942 I personally want a guy who has been there before. I think this group needs an established disciplinarian. I think we end up with Keefe, but slightly concerned it may be Woodcroft.

Ace, here is a possible video topic for you. Where will the Devil's find a broadcast home next season? What happens now that the 20 year contract with MSG is up? Since MSG was booted from Cablevision and is next to impossible to find a service provider with MSG, and since the network has always treated the Devils like a red headed step child, do the red and black make a pitch to Cablevision themselves or go back to the status quo? Interested to know if you have heard anything.

met Adam Oates at a signing/Q&A taking about the state of the game and teaching players. and definitely agree with his candidacy if he were interested in coaching again though he would have to let go of many clients who play on other teams due to conflict of interest ......including Rempe 🤣

Ace how many more years can Brind'more keep getting knocked out 1st 2nd round without that crap organization doing something about him. I thought for sure if the Canes got swept, he'd be gone. Ace I was a huge Montreal fan as a kid and I fucking woild love Larry Robinson to come back. He saved our ass in 2000. Love your thinking Ace!!!!!

@tommyd1871 Lots seem to think this could be the year. Let's see what happens. I am hoping for the miraculous comeback against the Rags. If they win the series somehow, I think they will be backing up the truck $$$ for him. Time will tell!

I agree...if I was Fitz, I would call Robinson and say "please get this team on the right path...I will make it worth your while." I do not see that happening though. Berube is my top pick right now. Anyone who can take a team from being the worst in the league to winning a cup in half a season definitely has my attention. He is clearly what we need. We have the talent to win. Just not the leadership. I think Berube will bring that. The Adirondacks is the ONLY good place in NY. Best part is, they are all Devils fans up there, due to the Thunder. Hopefully they win. Lastly, #BringBradytoNJ

@jamesvalenti9288 I would drop the call for Larry and plead my case. There is a nice pool of talent here. The right coach can do wonders here. I do not see it happening whatsoever. Realistically, I am hoping for Berube as well. He certainly performed a miracle with that Blues team. I have never been up to that area before. I went to Games 6 and 7 of the Thunder's previous series against Maine. Really nice area. I think they have a shot of going all the way. #BringBradyToNJ

@@runninwiththedevils Fitz has publicly said he wants a coach who is very good at utilizing analytics and there are "people within the organization who think similarly" supposedly who are very high on Woodcroft. I'll try to find a link, I know I came across over the past few days. I also hope it's not Woodcroft. I'm actually hoping Keefe goes to Pittsburgh and Sullivan somehow comes here. I just have a feeling it's going to be Woodcroft due to his use of analytics in Edmonton where he saw some success with it, and the above.

@@runninwiththedevils according to someone who claims to have insight into the Devils org (and who's been right before), Woodcroft is the likely choice. This just confirms my own speculation based on what I've been reading and putting two and two together. The analytics geeks have tremendous say in this org and Fitz is heavily influenced by them. This person also said our 10th is going to be packaged along with other assets and shipped for a goalie. If that goalie isn't Ullmark, Saros, or Askarov (pipe dream) then Fitz should be fired immediately. And even then, I think our 10th plus additional assets is too much for Ullmark. But the price is going to be high due to demand. Fitz really screwed up by not getting a goalie this year. Now he'll have Carolina and Edmonton to bid against. So yea... we'll see, it's all guessing at this point but I wont be surprised if Fitz makes a few bad decisions (at least what we consider bad) over the next several weeks.

@topjimmy72 Oh boy. This could be disastrous. An organization from top to bottom that is Analytics obsessed?!? NIGHTMARE FUEL. I would think the 10th alone may be able to get Ullmark. If we have to add much more to that, then I would rather go for Saros. Askarov would be an interesting development. I was discussing with one of my buddies about this. Is there any chance Nashville sticks with the "sure thing" in Saros and cashes in Askarov?!? Seems highly unlikely, but who knows. If Askarov is ready now, he is much younger and will be much cheaper as well. I do think that there will be a bunch of teams looking for a goalie this summer. That one goal for the Rangers last night was brutal. Absolutely brutal. Let's see what Fitz does, it could be a painful summer.

@JustaComment93 There is nothing wrong with Hischier and Hughes. Tkachuk would bring some physicality and grit to the lineup. Brady Tkachuk is a LW. He would be our top line winger, and would fit beautifully.

@jamesisrael4294 Well there are 2 more lines of defense. Hopefully Boston or Florida can beat them...and if not, hopefully one of the Stars/Avs/Canucks/Oilers can! But what an epic choke by the Canes. Blowing a 2 goal lead in the 3rd, on your home ice, in an elimination game?!? INEXCUSABLE.

@WeMissYouSnail The league is a mess. Inconsistent with the rulings. I thought the goal Bennett got the other day was good. He lightly nudged Coyle and he tried to embellish the contact. The goalie interference has gotten out of control overall. Challenges left and right. Let them play!

@@runninwiththedevils The inconsistency in officiating is what really bothers me, to the point where I almost can’t watch the playoffs and start to question if the whole thing is rigged lol. The goalie interference rule is just confusing and makes absolutely no sense. My viewpoint is this- either let them play and call NOTHING, or call literally everything. Preferably the former, but I just want consistency. The picking and choosing, missing obvious calls then doing BS makeup calls is SUS and fuels the conspiracy theories

@@runninwiththedevils gotcha, yeah you're not wrong man. Robinson would be a great option. I think Keefe is a good option even though I'm not crazy about his playoff record with the leafs. I also wouldn't mind getting Brindamour if he becomes available.

@michaelo7502 If Brind'Amour moves on after tonight's 3rd period meltdown, he is my #1. I like Berube too, but I think the team is afraid of him because he would make some of our players wet their beds at night.
