I just watched the Croation Fire Call Video where they were watching Soccor Game. It took them 24 seconds to gear up, and drove their trucks out.. moments before the game's penalty win. And here? I dunno.. lol

in the uk I know they have situations where other stations will at least partially cover some other areas if needed
@jaysmith14084 жыл бұрын
Richard Jones same with us here, well, career stations, it’s less common with career stations, to be able to fill with the same manpower for the entire department, but volunteer stations, any time another chief calls over asking for a fill, we oblige. I read about another career department that was out of service, they were filled by another department, but they only have a staffing of six. If our city to the south needed filled, that’s an average of four people per station, they have thirty stations.

Soooo if your house was burning down with you and your loved ones trapped inside, you'd be happy knowing that they were "out of action" for a pitiful awards ceremony? I know they wouldn't be happy about it. I was awarded the Bravery Medal and the Australian Fire Service Medal on the same day and I ran out on the West Australian State Premier AND the Department of Fire and Emergency Services COMMISSIONER to go to a road crash rescue, where I saved a young mother while my Lieutenant, who also ran out of the ceremony, saved her child (sadly the father did not survive, though they were doing the right thing as he was sober and the mother was not). We don't do what we do for praise or awards, or even for recognition. We do it to save lives. I honestly don't like the idea of being given a medal, to me it's just a ribbon and a piece of metal. Whoopy Beans. Give a medal to the single-digit child who overcame cancer and a car crash at the same time. Give a medal to the man who pulled me out of a fire at great personal risk. Give a medal to the people that don't have training and experience in the work we do, but do it anyway.

@@mitchell1091 do you know what mutual aid or automatic aid is? You do realize hundreds of stations go out of service daily for things like fundraisers and going to schools and stuff. Believe it or not there are usually multiple units that can respond to you with pretty much the same response time. That was kind of a dumb comment.
@mitchell10914 жыл бұрын
@@michaelt.9372 Thinks work a little differently in Australia, asshat. But all the same, they were on station, ready to respond. Why put them out of service?
@michaelt.93724 жыл бұрын
@@mitchell1091 so that stuff like this doesn't happen? Stations cover each other all the time. Sometimes its nice to have a ceremony without being interrupted.

@josephbennett34825 жыл бұрын
Firefighter valor awards are only given to firefighters that go up and beyond and do everything they can to save another person's life without worrying about their own safety. The award usually isn't given to a firefighter unless they have risked their life going into a fully engulfed structure just to save a victim. any firefighter that hasn't come close to death won't receive an award. Firefighters valor awards are just like police valor awards or military valor awards , you only get them if you put your own life completely at risk just to rescue a down firefighter or trapped fire victim.
@fmartinjr5 жыл бұрын
I don't know where the hell you're from ,that you have never heard of Valor Awards. This shit has been here forever. Maybe you need to do some productive work wherever it is that you fire fight ,and then you'll get recognized.
