"Curtis Mathes, Sr., died in 1977. Curtis Mathes, Jr., became the Chairman of the Board and the company's public face, appearing in its television commercials until his 1983 death in the Air Canada Flight 797 fire at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport."

I just bought a Curtis Mathes AV800. Fingers crossed the belts and vidicon tube are still good. Stumbled upon this and now im super hyped for that camera to arrive LMAO I'm also really impressed that 60fps existed in the 80s

It's crazy how longevity was emphasized back then. Today electronic items are expected to be thrown away the moment it breaks...

I hope y'all will reply to this when I was growing up we had Curtis Mathes TVs...in 1984 we got a Curtis Mathes VCR and were members of the Showstopper movie club that was where I saw the Three Stooges for the first time...the VCR worked for 10 years in 1994 it finally quit
