August 9, 2019 - In this month’s installment of Our Land, correspondent Laura Paskus travels to the remote Gila Wilderness for an in-depth report on the battle over the Gila River. Once again, a proposal for a diversion on the southwestern New Mexico waterway has people who live along the river - and those who have other interests - trying to either save the river or reroute its waters to serve agricultural and business purposes.

Thanks and keep up the good work. Perhaps using beaver dams would benefit the river.

Slowing the river at key points could create flood control points and allow the water to run year round. A dam would just become pull point for cities.

A state, is called the coldest of all cold monsters. Coldly lieth it also; and this lie creepeth from its mouth: "I, the state, am the people." It is a lie! Creators were they who created peoples, and hung a faith and a love over them: thus they served life. Destroyers, are they who lay snares for many, and call it the state: they hang a sword and a hundred cravings over them. Where there is still a people, there the state is not understood, but hated as the evil eye, and as sin against laws and customs. Everything owned by the State is stolen from the PPL. Friedrich Nietzsche, 1844 - 1900 Thus Spoke Zarathustra Greatungs from Germany
