Mick Funny Wrong. I can tell you never watch Gonzaga games with that statement. Kispert is a very solid piece of a top 15 Defense. His lateral quickness has improved every year. He is great at getting vertical and using his strength to force difficult shots over his completely straight arms. He also is a very good athlete (average NBA athlete vertically) who can get up quickly off of two feet to contest. Never going to wow with blocks or steals due to his lack of +wingspan, but he will top out as an ok positional defender in the NBA with the strength to guard most 4s at 6’7. He will not be a negative on defense in the league, so with his shooting/finishing/cutting he will he a very good overall player.

Gonzaga just won their last game by 39 points, they score an average of over 90 points every game, Florida State would be no different then every other team they've played this season. Only team that has a solid shot of beating Gonzaga is Baylor and you know it.

I've watched zags for 25 years and this is their most athletic team in backcourt with nembard getting the waiver. i follow the WCC a little also and their conference has improved top to bottom. My criticism of this years team would be their basic defense principles. I get they don't have a rim protector so they don't have a way to alter every drive to the basket. However, so many possessions on D suggs gambles to much and cook should play off guards a little and allow more jump shots in side the arc. You can live with more 3's off the dribble not the wide open ones they allowing off dribble penetration. Sure they get alot of steals b/c of athleticism and gambling in passing lanes , but it is putting timme and kispert at risk off picking up more fouls on help D and those 2 need to be on the floor. Of course when your an offensive guggernaut like they are alot of what i talked about gets overlooked. Cory won't hit 9 3's every night! Great job though in this game of limiting turnovers unlike the Iowa game where they could have beaten them by 25 instead 11 if they didn't have 18 turnovers against a weaker defensive team than this UVA team.

UVA was overmatched. But this is good for the squad. They might just understand they have more to learn, can play a lot better and need to be ready/more prepared for "big games" like this. You wouldn't believe what Joel Ayali looked like last year. He looked like a kid that was headed for a Big Sky or MEAC school. Their ability to develop players is unreal. Center Kelly Olynyk went from being a huge disappointment to a lottery pick. The development of Brandon Clarke (who had only one D-1 scholarship coming out of HS) and Rui Hachimura speaks volumes. As a frosh, Kispert could only hit jumpers. He was terrible on defense, had zero mid range game, and lacked toughness around the rim. It has all changed as a senior. He's on the way to being a Wooden Award finalist, although I expect Garza to sweep everything. The last thing that opponents want to see is Few starting to land one and done kids. Suggs is not just a lucky card. Gonzaga is considered the leader for the #1 player in the 2021 class in Chet Holmgren (Suggs' former HS teammate) and as well as top 10 combo guard Hunter Sallis from Omaha. But I do not expect GU to ever become a one and done factory. For one, they aren't a blue blood, and secondly, Few values experience too much. These top shelf recruits will be final fits.

Me hopes that fans understand that Gonzaga has made 5 straight sweet 16's or better and would've made 6 straight if the NCAA tourney had been played last season. GU was destined to be the 2nd number one overall seed, and they would've played their first 2 games in the city owned Spokane Arena, off campus. Only two teams have gone to 5 straight sweet 16's or better in the expanded bracket era. That is definitive proof that they do not choke in the NCAA tourney. They have also made the sweet 16 in years when they were not a number one. I really feel that people hate the team because they don't like non-BCS teams and the fact that ESPN has got to promote a west coast team that actually achieves something.
