Summer temperatures in Hong Kong typically reach over 30 degrees Celsius (86°F) with sky-high humidity. Practically every building has air conditioning and most residents are used to the comfort of coolness indoors. Lam Chiu-ying, a former head of the Hong Kong Observatory, became an internet icon after he claimed to have not turned on his home air conditioner for over 10 years. Often ridiculed online, Lam recently made use of his fame to partner up with a local rapper to promote environmental awareness. Post reporter Sammy Heung sat down with the pair to learn more about their cross-generational collaboration.

Use when needed and in moderation. In Hong Kong even in winter/cooler months AC is turned on full blast in some places and people put on extra clothes. It makes no sense.

I live in China. Everything is miserable here, but no one dares to complain. We Chinese hope that the Hong Kongers, Tibetans and Uyghurs won't live hopeless like us any longer. Seriously if there is next life, I wish to be born in any other country, except China.
