Tosin is playing an Abasi guitar. Not just a signature guitar, but a completely custom design. Love your thoughts on them.

I’d say tosin is the most popular of them but matt is considered one of the best from a lot of people who know drumming. And i feel bad for javier because he gets little credit but is on the same/similar level of tosin in terms of playing.

Yeah Garstka is an absolute master, and Javier probably doesn’t get the spotlight because he’s the “rhythm/bass” player, which means a lot in this band

Saw These guys in concert up front he has a LOOPER he uses at 8:50 mark. He pushes down with his foot to activate it. He does this a lot throughout his music set. Very smart very effective.

I figured that had to be the case with as much fullness they make with only three instruments

Ok...now checkout Matt's playthrough of Gordian Naught. :) Also, if you can find a good live clip, Tempting Time is one of my favorite songs from them.

For info, the background synth/guitar + ambiant sound is basically a computer playing a backing track - the computer is the 4th player in some ways, but it only play parts that dont really require a human, as in...ambiant coloring basically (but then all the rest is played against it so it function as the bass or tonal director). Lots of bands in this genre seems to do the same. In recordings, they also double the 8 strings guitar with a bass (not every time but often).

Makes sense to me. It keeps them from having an extra member just to do what some guitar pedals can

crazy song right? tbh you can react to any song by them, they're all so good
@rwesleyslaven Жыл бұрын
Yeah they're all super interesting and fun to listen to. Hard to follow at times with the changes and what not.

@@rwesleyslaven trying to follow them the first time around is pointless imo, its just too confusing without knowing where the song is headed.
@rwesleyslaven Жыл бұрын
@@Killerbee_McTitties for sure, there’s tons of change in the rhythm

Funny you should mention the tuning of the guitars, normally you're right - it'd be F# B E A D G B E, for this song and some songs off this album however they tune to E B D A D G B E - like drop D with a low low E string, really strange to play but a lot of fun to mess around with
@rwesleyslaven Жыл бұрын
Interesting. It makes sense since they’re using that low string essentially as a bass guitar

If you like metal I'd recommend Alluvial - 40 stories, super interesting cleaner verse section but super brutal but also catchy chorus, the album is a big grower for sure. Wes hauch is one of my favourite guitarists, a very unique sound
