Quick tip. The door has to remain shut during the restart process. Thanks for showing me this trick. Been using it for a while now. Comes in handy, especially in the winter.

JamesJDMoe honestly depending on the mileage and the past owners you’re going to want to always have around 1200-2000 on hand for emergency fixes every 8 months as problems do arise quite frequently. With my e92 I was running into a whole lot of issues with those shitty coil packs, injectors, stability control modules and suspension issues pertaining to the control arms due to living in the northern east coast where potholes are inevitable when daily driving. After 4.5 years I finally got a new daily driver and keep the Beamer in the garage for a weekend cruises on good days. Feels great to not have to take the car into the dealer every two months or so. Thankfully I had the bmw gold warranty and it covered around what should have been something of the likes of 13-18000 usd over the course of 4.5 years which for me and my aggressive driving style rounded out to around 2-4K in repairs a year not including tires And regular maintenance on wear and tear items

One thing everyone needs to know is that the key fob recharges while it is inserted. So if you decide to use this hack with the fob in your pocket eventually you will get the notification to recharge the fob.

You can actually just put the key in take it out then turn on. That way your not turning it on and off.

This method will only work on the Manual 6spd transmission models all Automatic transmission models require you to first turn on the vehicle then off and take out/restart the vehicle without the fob within 10seconds to take off without the Key Fob inserted 👍🏽 Speaking from experience of a 330i 6spd and a ‘11 335i Automatic owner 👍🏽

I have a 09 328i e93 and I can remove the fob without starting and stopping the engine. Just insert the fob. Push the start button (without pushing the break) and remove the fob. Then push the break and start it. Without the fob inserted.

Now I can start it and lock it in the morning let it warm up before driving it to work, and not worry about someone helping themselves to my 335i 👍🏼

u know what? I have something better. I used to just insert the fob, turn on the engine and then if you needed the keys, you just pull the physical key from the fob (which is connected to the rest of ur keys). this way you don't turn your engine on and off like that...

For you guys that it don't work, do this........when turning vehicle off, double press(push it in 2 times fast) the ignition button with foot on brake. Remove key then while foot still on brake press ignition switch. Works like a charm!!!

If you just hold the key near the ignition (close enough for the door chime to go off) or click it in then out without removing it you can just hold the start button for 10 secs with clutch depressed door open or closed

Hey I know another trick too on this one you don't have to insert the key all the way simple just before it clicks in just keep holding the key there while at the same time holding the start button and the will start once done you can just pull the key back without having to do the two steps of stating the car and turning it off and then start it back up... you do have to hold it for at least 10 seconds too try it see if it works

Comfort access is when you dont need to unlock/lock car with the key, but rather locking/unlocking by pulling the door handle or pressing it and have nothing to do with starting the car with out the key in the ignition In my f30 there is no hole to put the fob in, but still I dont have comfort access the word speaks for itself: comfort access

Does this bypass the anti theft system? In my car with comfort access, if the car is running and you get out with they key in your pocket, a bunch of warnings pop up stating that the car won't start again without the key. Then once you get back in with the key the warnings disappear.

So I was trying this on my BMW today and it did work btw, thanks for the hack, but I found an easier way. You don't have to start the car, just put the key in to where it locks and when it does take it out and then turn on the car on quick! Worked for me.

Make sure to use something like a CLUB to make sure no one takes off with your car. Pushing the brake pedal does NOT kill the engine like most remote starters do.

Trying to think of a reason I'd want to do this, so far all I've got is on a freezing morning I could start the engine, get out and lock the car and go back indoors until the car has warmed up and defrosted all the windows.

The benifit is that, if the key of the car and your garage key are in the same keychain, then you can take the key off to close your garage and retern it without turnning off the engine.

A friend of mine has a 2007 335i coupe and he had changed the battery a year ago, but the car has been idle for 9 months. We tried to start it today but there was no life in it at all. He was thinking it was the key fob's battery that died, but is it more likely that the battery died? I was about to buy it off him, but that issue is concerning me. Thanks

Omair Sheikh jump start it. if it starts then it was the cars battery in the trunk that was low. If it doesn't start then it's something else.

Thank you for this video, I just bought my first bmw 2008 328i (78,000 miles) on Friday! Does the key have to be put back in once you get their I know my dad has it on his 2010 BMW X5 but when he got it used the keyless worked but after using it for while it killed the battery and had to let the key charge in the ignition or something not sure exactly what

The only thing...if your engine stalls while crossing a busy road (U turn or similar) due to the wrong gear or something I am not sure if the steering wheel lock does NOT engage....so what do you do if your key is in your pocket and not so quickly put into the key slot to disengage the lock? It is okay when the engine is running when the car is in a safe parked position without the key inserted but I would not drive WITHOUT the key inserted. Yes it happened to me a few times when I was not paying and I stalled the engine....

You don’t need the key fob to start it. I do it all the time. The key slot is just the charge it.

Just don't do that: Go into the house after you started the car, leave the key on the kitchen counter. Go outside and drive away. Then - turn of the car and you are stuck in nowhere without a key!!!!

You can actually do this without turning on the car. Just pop the fob in, pop it out and immediately turn on the car.

Hi, What is your go to option for having no ability to play bluetooth direct to Head unit? At present i am using a bluetooth FM transmitter to a free FM frequency but i find it varible quality?, so i also bought a simple bluetooth receiver which slots into armrest which connects to AUX in slot, this again works but i would love to find a way of changing it so its all inside the BMW system etc. I intend to keep the car long term and want a simple quality solution. Without having to go to BMW or an Audio company to get it sorted etc. Any recommendations?

I’m needing help. I have a 2007 530 I without comfort access I believe I drop the key in the lake six months ago the car sit I finally went and bought a new fob from BMW they programmed it without the car being there and give me the key tell me what to do when I got to the car and it will start right up and it doesn’t have tried everything I don’t know what to do they want me to buy a new cast now for 1500 bucks do you have any suggestions?
