Yea but that’s not fun! It’s like going to the casino and ONLY playing red or black on roulette… forget slots, blackjack, or any other games because the return isn’t as high. It’s just boring. You don’t get the thrill of the pull sitting there with your kids and everyone’s face lights up if you just buy singles. It’s a different vibe.

Funniest part to me was, he was a reseller himself lol this was literally all the “junk/lower end” stuff he just couldn’t/didn’t want to put the work into & sell. & time But he’s a reseller himself 😂

My son and I found your channel a few months back and I have to say that I am impressed by your passion and knowledge of the hobby. My Sons have rekindled an old passion of mine for collecting and they have recently discovered my old collection of Yankee cards from the late 80s into the early 2000s and all of the Stars of that time period. Now we collect together and watch Baseball thru a different lens. You are doing the Hobby a tremendous service by bringing different sides of the story to the world through these videos. You are truly a generous and honest person that can only move the card collecting hobby into the future. We are all just shepherds of this hobby and look to move these items into other peoples collections! God Bless and safe travels!

Hey Ty, it’s Kardkrazykelly. It made me smile when you went to Jim’s shop. It brought me back to my college years, when he had a shop in his parents basement off dishman mica rd. I lived my aunt on the north side and would go to his shop at least once a month. Jim is a good dude.

One of my favorite videos so far, great negotiation and I think both parties left happy. I wish him the best with his health and work situation, always hard on a man and a family and I just pray he will be ok. I have graded once with PSA and realized the value in it and will continue grading. Love the family van lol, I hope I’ll have enough kids to get one of them one day! Thanks again Ty!

We as buyers of collections struggle with the bottom line sometimes the price of collections for resellers is not so cut and dry. The out cost always outweighs your heart in closing the deal but sometimes you just bite the bullet and do the deal..collection buying is definitely not for the faint of heart and unfortunately it’s always emotional for the other side being the seller. This is what I love about watching chasing cardboard to see myself I. Your transactions from this side. You could of done an episode itself with Jim and his shop his store reminds me of the first shop I walked into in the 80s and gave me those flashbacks going to the card shop after school hanging out sorting cards for free just because I had to be around it.. the hobby is just not a hobby anymore in this day of the next flip but I hope there’s kids in his area that are doing what I did..go to the card shop just because it meant something more than just being around the cards and I think that something more is clearly Jim the knowledge,the passion and just being jim! Jim at Sportscards Northwest is such a great guy. Always in a great mood to talk to and just hang out with. I honestly stop by weekly just to see him and somehow always end up leaving with some great cards. The environment is so great with how it's a true treasure hunt for whatever you might or might not be searching for!

You going to SCNW at the end was an unexpected shocker for me. Jim moved to Salem, Oregon for a time and his shop here was my favorite place in the world. My fondest childhood memories are in his shop opening packs with my dad and just killing time watching/talking sports. Seeing his face and his shop in Spokane made me a little emotional. I need to get to Spokane to see him and his shop out there. Thanks for what you do.

C: I haven’t graded yet but I’ve got an Aaron Judge rookie that I’d like to. Another great episode again as well. I thought the deal worked out really well for both parties. That’s a real skill to be able to do that, let alone with a camera rolling, and then sharing it out to the public. It seems like even the negotiation process is getting better and better with each episode. I hope this show keeps growing and growing! The episodes are always entertaining.

Great episode. I’m glad you came to a deal. As far as grading I won’t ever grade my cards because I don’t believe there is a 10 on any card. There is too much room for error from the manufacturer to packing out to people opening the packs to how they are stored. Too many moving parts. I might buy them if I can flip them but I’m too much of a card collecting purist.

His story about diabetes hits home for me. 2012 I was diagnosed with type 2 went to the hospital because I had to take a couple of breaks when cutting the grass and knew something was wrong, went to the hospital and my A1C was 11.4 with my blood sugar over 800 lost 50lbs. Was in ICU for 4 days. Three months later my A1C went back to normal was off medicine for 6 years until it came back.

Jim is probably one of the best guys in the industry. He’s good to all the collectors, but what you didn’t get a chance to do talk about, is his ability to get kids (the next generation) involved. He’s a dying breed.

Every time I watch these why do I feel sad for the people selling. I guess I relate And I'm just a empath to the money situation and it's tough not to get attached to the hobby. It's something either you have or you don't. But I get you have to separate it as a business. That's tough when you have a kind heart. Good episode as always. I look forward to these.

First time watching your videos and such great content. Can’t wait to check out your upcoming videos in the future. Must be so hard to come up with a price on the higher end stuff without comping out prices on each card so you can figure out your profit margin. When buying in bulk like that it seems to be risky if they are not near your final number price wise. Lots of averages and multiplying! My theory in sports cards will always be to buy the card NOT the grade! Awesome stuff!!!

Lesson here folks is....make sure to collect what you like BUT also collect what others like when it comes to resell it. Because these collections can be brutal for the original owner when it comes to negotiate.

Love grading with PSA. Definitely the best way to increase card value in the current state lf the hobby. Trying to do two bulk submissions a month for the year and see what type of profit that yields

B. I am grading with Olympic Card Grading in Hoquiam WA, affordable, quick turn around, local for me and their certificate of grade explains well how the grade lands on each card.

Im over 40 now, but I cant seem to embrace modern cards the way I did 30 years ago. However, oddly enough, what got me back into the hobby was chasing the 50s to 70s tops cards.

i get anxiety when you start digging through a collection and theres a lot of junk wax, modern commons, and low level parallels. atleast there ended up being some decent stuff in there.

Was a C grader, now a B grader. Had a Topps Now Wemby first pick card and a Luke Hughes young guns rookie. Both looked flawless between corners and centering. Went over it with my LCS guy who does the submissions. The Wemby came back a PSA 10. But the Hughes came back an 8. Corners weren’t perfect anymore. I don’t know what happened, whether it was in shipping or handling. But I wouldn’t have sent it in if they looked like that. Next time, I’m taking photos beforehand.

@cditsious trust me I know lol. I'm super lazy when it comes to listing cards. I just look over at my collection and start feeling like 'do I really wanna look thru all those right now?'. I just hate seeing people giving up great collections to this show for such low money. Ya its fun to watch but I feel so bad for the people. I'd rather pay somebody to help me list.

Never degraded... simply said reselling to a reseller doesn't often work... my selling intentions was to sell to collectors, not reseller. When a reseller sells to a reseller it causes a drop in the card market.

100% can spend all day at jims... and have before! Loves to chat about everything sports, he sold me everything from my first mantle, jordan rc and much more! Wouldn't have the collection I do today without him.

What a sad story. We can laugh and make fun of people that way overspent in the hobby but this is more than that . This dude lost control, and now that life circumstances have changed he actually needs the money and probably recouped 10% of the money he spent on all that This isn’t the guy going to overboard on his hobby and now cutting his losses and moving on . This is closer to the guy getting off work and spending $500 at the casino, and not being able to pay his electric bill because he totally lost control Or the happier note. That hobby shop is legit. I’m so thankful to be able to see these awesome shops I would never see without KZfaq and get to know a little bit about the owner

Never graded a card before but I am going to be trying to build a SGC graded 10 set of the 1992-93 OPC 25th anniversary sub set hockey I thinks its one of the greatest sub set from the 90's and would look sick in the tux slabs

Man i love buying carda started collecting again roughly 6 months ago i been spending waaayyyy too much money i need to come up w a plan . I feel like i need to rip carfs every single night after work. I wanna cut it down to like 1 day a week go to my lcs and grab a hobby box or a few megas etc.

I love the 😂dance/ negotiation. I’ve been there a few times. The Funko’s was a surprising twist (and not where I would have gone.). Great show Ty! You might need to come to TN and negotiate for my basement…

I find this issue at the few collections I’ve looked at, picked thru already and nothing really valuable left. And ask way too much for the work it would be.. I will make a stack of cards to grade and once get enough will send in to PSA. Casual grader, it’s worth it just have to choose the right cards
