Wrong. His reaction is "told you so!" Wells tried to get Anton to spare his life arguing he could help him get the money back. Anton told him the money would be brought to him. Llewellyn tell him "you won't have to come looking for me at all" proving Anton right.

He is one of the most bad ass villains in movie history. (that coin toss scene in the gas station is gold, btw.) I think that the part where he says “I can’t guarantee you that you can save yourself, because you can’t.” Is soooo underrated. Most villains in that situation would lie and say that as long as they get their money or what they want, the person will live, but not him. He is true to his word and negotiated as best as he felt he could. Haunting!! What a great film.

probably because his personality makes sense, seems real and motivation can be real. Nothing like "ohh i'm loyal to my boss so i will bring money back to him" instead we are getting killer with own rules that we could use aswell. "corrupted man - bad guy/honorable man - good guy. (also threat is threat so everything is as simple as kid's mind).

Actually he was a match for him in the end. Anton was not actually able to kill him and nearly got himself killed chasing him. The cartel caught up with Llewelyn Moss otherwise Anton may not have survived himself. The survival scene with Llewelyn getting chased by the pitbull should have been an indicator along with him stating his military service in Vietnam that he was just as dangerous as Anton.

His reaction isn't to the hangup or threats. Before Wells died he plead with Anton by saying he could help him get the money back. Anton didn't need his help as the phone call proved. His reaction was "told you so!".

mike johnson I was bored and had time to kill on a Sunday evening when it was in the cinemas. Went and saw it even though I'm really not a "film guy" and had never heard of Bardem nor did I know anything from the film itself. Was just looking to kill a couple hours before going home. Blew my mind. Had the same experience that summer with The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, too.

Agreed- it was completely foolish. He was refusing to see things as they were. Even if somehow he killed Chigurh, (which wasnt impossible)someone else would look for him. The cycle would continue until Moss and his wife were dead. He could have just saved his wife and made the whole ordeal stop.

@@tabbypappy All moss had to do. Was NOT sit in front of his hotel door when Anton breaks in. A fucking Army vet is just gonna sit up right in front of a door that has a killer behind and he knows it. He could have sat off to the side. This could have turned into one of the most epic and awesome endings of a movie. Moss turning the tables on Chigurh. Instead the movie took a dive after this point. I really like the movie, went out and read the book afterwards. But the movie ended poorly and strangely, with no clear point. It built to a climax that slowly melted instead of exploding like a supernova.
@20014johnss
@20014johnss 7 жыл бұрын
I think the point of the movie is not all of the bad folks out there get caught. Most US movies will show the tables being turned on the bad guy, but sometimes that is not reality.
@DavidPT40
@DavidPT40 7 жыл бұрын
The bad guy could have still won. But the ending fizzled. Even the timeline got screwed up. Why did it show Anton in the motel as the Sheriff was about to enter? And yes, I have read the book, albeit in 2008. And is it so unrealistic that Moss would go after Chigurh after Chigurh told him he would kill his wife? Moss in the book was a two-tour Vietnam Veteran and a sniper. For a movie so gritty and realistic, I didn't need nor want a splintered metaphorical ending. I have read some of Cormac Mccarthy's other works. They have ended better.
@nfinn42
@nfinn42 7 жыл бұрын
The fact that you thought this was an action thriller movie is due to not digging deeper. Don't just ignore dialogue in scenes, pay attention. Watch again and really think about Sheriff Bell's opening monologue. This movie is not about stolen money, or chases, or gunfights. It's about how we face a world full of death and chaos. Moss and Chigurh's chase only matters in that it teaches us, and Bell, something about the perils of "pushing your chips in". The last reel of the movie is the strongest, not the weakest, because it is about the way in which Sheriff Bell comes to his final decision. Everything has been about that.

How is the ending splintered? Moss dying the way he did made perfect sense. Yes, Moss is a badass himself, but things didn't work out for him. I thought the anticlimactic ending was fitting.
