I can't hold the tears listening to this song, Gwen is one of the most sensitive songwriters i have ever heard

The most heartbreakingly beautiful song. Uplifting and gorgeous chords and so much honesty in the lyrics. Pretty obsessed with this.

3:12 is very fascinating in terms of human psychology (and/or physiology - maybe it's "or" - we think too much): is it just me or did she melt a little when she sang that line, "I always though, 'I'd be a mom'"? And then the next line is interesting on its own - not with how it affected her on stage - "the longer that I wait, the more selfish that I get." (How does THAT make sense? Who knows ...) Then the "you seem like, you'd be a good dad" line is sung; and she singles out a person in the audience - man or woman I know not - and smiles, as if it's all ok. Perhaps that explains why there are so many promiscuous women now days (no offense intended) - the first love comes and goes so carelessly on both parties' sides - and the woman seeks to wash it away with an excess of love, not knowing it is now lust.

***** Yes. Blake Shelton is very lucky. And I hope he treats her right too :) She is an amazing woman.

Nicholas The Tennis Rat not at all, at that time she was married (or almost) i dont know exactly but she wrote "underneath it all" for Gavin Rossdale (the father of his kids)... she sings this song with him, maybe its for him that she pointed
@justphil845 жыл бұрын
Nicholas The Tennis Rat she wanted children at that time as she hadn’t had them yet. The longer she waited (and sacrificed personal wants for fame) the more she felt the pull to start a family. Hence the “sometimes I wish for a mistake” meaning accidental pregnancy. This was a common theme for Gwen during that time of her life. She touches on it again on her solo effort “What You Waiting For?”, as the song is about running out of time and her biological clock ticking. She’s spoken about it. Lastly it’s also worth noting she wrote Simple Kind of Life alone during a moment of sadness about a break up with Gavin Rossdale. So she was partially lamenting that as well, as she thought he’d seemed like he’d be a good father.
