Hey y'all! This is an impromptu livestream that my good friend and fellow epic fantasy author Andrew D. Meredith decided to hop on and do this afternoon to add some extra thoughts to the OMG IS EPIC FANTASY DEAD and NO, EPIC FANTASY ISN'T DEAD videos that have been going around KZfaq recently.

Hearing you both say to keep writing your epic fantasy is good encouragement. I'm currently writing book one in an epic series that I need to get out of my head. I was worried it was going to be a hard sell to people and that maybe I should try and write a standalone or something... but this series is what I'm currently excited about writing. So I will continue! Thank you.

Yes!! Keep writing. What I learned as a Game Designer when similar games came out while I was working on a passion project, only you can write YOUR book. Don’t just “get it out of you head.” Write the best Epic Fantasy the world has ever seen!!

Brilliant, brilliant conversation! You navigated the nuance and complexity of the topic that i think has been missing across booktube discussions on this.

This was such a wonderful chat! Really appreciate you guys having a level-headed discussion about this hot-button issue And all the tips for indie authors, I'm taking notes. I'd totally be down for a networking lecture 😅😁

I thought I was done with this topic, but of course I am making an exception when it comes to you two ;))) Absolutely loved hearing all your insights, especially the stuff about the printing differences for indie/trad was a huge surprise for me. And yes, we need necromantasy now hahah. Thanks for sharing 🥰

Thanks for watching, Esmay :D We tried to give it a bit more of the nuance it seems to have lost in the Booktube whirlwind. Maybe you should write a necromantasy!

Strangely enough The Dark Tower while it wasn't my first Stephen King it wad my first fantasy series. At the time there was only three books. Later I read The Stand which some view as fantasy after that I didn't really read fantasy except Potter and His Dark Material

@@AndrewDMth Hah! thanks, but I'll be more then pleased enough to get a handle on prose stroies, and _maybe_ some small poems! Not all is lost though, just heard Blue from OSP is self-publishing a Venitian retelling of the Aneid which is outstanding nerdy effort.
