I mostly watch these Chessbrah vids because of the music. I always wanted to have decent lounge music, but I'm a guy of the classics, so I never got a clear view of what's around, and Eric clearly does.

@@juridittrich6396 And I meant it literally, not figuratively. Make no mistake, I like Eric very much. But he has a habit of taking 20 to 60 seconds to make a mid-game move in a 3 minute game. And the move he makes is usually the same move that I would have made 3 seconds into his decision process. And I can barely even play chess: I would probably be rated about 300-500.

Figure out where you struggle the most . Some people are really good at opening and middle game but suck at end game . Some people play a couple openings really good but don't play any other ones as well. Study actual opening theory and how to give the correct response to opponents moves the more you study and more games you play you will get better

In Eric’s game against Gabrielian, he said that he needed to keep pieces on the board. Can anyone help me understand why? Can pawn majorities on the king side not be used in the end game too?

I think he said it because his pieces were more active at that point, had the opportunity to push the e pawn and his opponent had the white bishop, which is an advantage in an endgame. In fact, Eric was winning, but he lost the pawn majority at the end.

Game 2.. there is a book that says your suppose to resign vs GMs. Hahaha good fun. Back in the 90s I saw Viktor Korchnoi play a small fish in politiken cup in Copenhagen. Fish kept playing in a dead lost position. Viktor dry as sand asked the fish. Why ain’t you resigning? After all I’m a grandmaster :)

57:37 why was the king+pawn vs. King endgame a draw? couldnt you try to promote the pawn?

The black king has the opposition, meaning that it can prevent white's king from advancing if the pawn doesn't move, or stay in front of the pawn if it does move. If the pawn advances far enough up the board black can force a position where pushing the pawn forwards results in stalemate. Look up opposition and king and pawn endgames on KZfaq, lichess, or in a chess endgame book for more details on how this works
