Real Prince fans just smile at the casual fans who only know a few hits, LRC, Purple Rain, 1999, Kiss, etc… But we know those are just a chapter of his lifetime masterpiece catalog , years before Little Red Corvette, and years after till his death in 2016. You would have to dive deep into space to experience Prince’ huge catalog of music, performances , looks, productions , band members, protégés , etc. I was so fortunate to be a teen in the late 70’s and witness Prince and his music from the first album, and most real Prince fans 😊don’t respond kindly to those unfamiliar , who casually say things about him, not knowing his complete history. It’s like me saying something about Taylor Swift, not ever hearing her music or knowing her history and legacy.

The word genius doesn't begin to describe Prince. His falsetto is magnificent, he could play 27 instruments, on his early albums he played all the instruments, did most of the backing vocals and produced, composed, wrote and performed most the his albums as well ad wrote and produced many hits for other artists. He created the Minneapolis Sound, music/songs that were easily identifiable by the heavy use of synthesizers and drum machines in the 80s and 90s. Truly underrated! I think both of you will love Lets Go Crazy. Its very upbeat. Other great Prince jams are 1999, When Doves Cry, Uptown, Let's Work (one of his best basslines). Its Gonna Be a Beautiful Night is another great song with a live video on KZfaq. Some of his best jams like Lady Cab Driver and Lets Pretend We're Married were NSFW. He was very controversial, and his third album was titled Controversy, which was also a great song.

It's best not to put an artist in a box, especially when it's based on preconceived notions. Give these songs a listen: "Bambi"- a rockin Prince "Erotic City"- club banger, my favorite Prince song "Let's Go Crazy"- probably more like what you were expecting "How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore"- mellow, just Prince and a piano "Cream, live at Webster hall"- Prince with an acoustic guitar "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"- a tribute to George Harrison, with other rock stars. Prince shows out with a guitar solo "Rock n' Roll Loveaffair"- later Prince, good tune This will give you a flavor of Prince to start. 👍
