Hey Matt, on what you said about the rosters I made really good rosters in 2k20 because I try to go do every contract and recreate every player, but I recently got 2k22 (since the servers for 20 went off) so in a few weeks (maybe a month) I should have created a 1985/86 or 2006/07 roster by then, so if you want to play on a good roster soon I should have one for PS4 2k22. Keep up the vids man!

I guarantee it’s just game by game for the playoffs. Like I highly doubt home court has any effect at all, I’d be shocked tbh. They just sim the two teams against each other like a normal game and that’s the outcome. I obviously don’t know exactly how it works with simming a game, like it’s gotta be some kind of algorithm based on the team overall, individual player shot tendencies, how players match up, and a million other things. Also I’d LOVE to see a massive sample of 1 v 8 seed results in 2K. It’d take someone forever, but they could go through like yours and 1-2 other rebuilders videos from 2K22, and see what the win % is with 1 v 8. Take down separate categories like CPU controlled 1 v 8 seed W/L, User controlled 1 v 8 seed W/L, then for comparison CPU controlled 2 v 7 & 3 v 6, and User controlled 2 v 7 & 3 v 6. So you’d have 4 categories. User 1 v 8, CPU 1 v 8, User 2/3, and User 2/3. 2/3 would be lumped together as one. That’d be super interesting data to see. I’d love to see if there was a big discrepancy in user v cpu being the 1 seed, like if CPU wins 85% as the #1 seed and User only wins like 65%. Or if User 2/3 seed wins more than user 1 seed etc. You’d need like a thousand series or something to have a solid sample size though and that’d take sooooo long. Also what ppl have to understand is on 2K you’re seeing SOOOOOO many more series than have ever been played out in the history of the NBA. Like there are only two 1 v 8 seeds per year in the playoffs, and it only became best of 7 in 2003. So 2003-2019 would be the sample really bc pandemic messes it up, and now it’ll be even different in the future because of the play-in. But ya that’s only 17 playoffs so 34 1 v 8 best of 7 series. Really tiny sample size, and then no injuries in 2K. So you’re going to see way crazier stuff in 2K bc you’re literally going through WAYYYY more 1 v 8 series than there’s been in NBA history in one cycle of a certain 2K. Let’s put it in to perspective. 2K22 came out on September 10th, 2021. That was almost 20 weeks ago. Let’s be conservative and say you’re uploading 3 videos a week (60) and in each video you’re simming 4 seasons on average. I know most are 3 but it’s skewed by like the 10, 20 season rebuilds etc. So that’s 240 seasons. You’re probably the 1 seed in half of those seasons? That’s 120 user controlled #1 vs #8 matchups, and the play-in exists so the #8 seed is prolly slightly tougher on average? Idk. But yea that’s 120 1 v 8 best of 7’s already in 2K22 alone, and only 34 in NBA history pre pandemic… (or 38 if u wanna include 19-20/20-21) so you’re gonna see way more crazy stuff. Also your brain remembers losing as the #1 seed WAY more than it remembers winning bc it’s expected. You don’t really think about it too much when you just sweep an 8 seed. That’s just how your brain works. For example, a poker player is going to remember losing with AA or KK vs JJ significantly more than when they win in those situations. Not saying the #1 seed doesn’t lose to #8 more than say #2 vs #7, I have no idea, that’s why I said I’d love to actually see the data bc it obviously does seem like it happens quite a bit. But coming from the background that I do I understand probability very well and know how your brain plays tricks on you in those kinda situations also. Even being aware of it I still let it happen to me all the time. Anyway super long nerdy post. Appreciate the great content as always. Keep killing it SROS.
