No Malice of Clipse in this segment of the interview takes Vlad through the early stages of his career, the unexpected success of the Neptunes-produced "Grindin," and his reputation as a "coke rapper." "We were so good at [coke rap] because everybody could relate," No Malice says. "And people knew that them guys really have something to do with that. It in itself became an art form."

Its funny that people wanna look at them as "coke rappers" they really aren't. He's right, look at their rhymes they dont only rap about coke, in fact a lot of their good rhymes arent just about dealing. Its dumb to try to label rappers like that. Clipse fan here man. Those boys had something special

I first heard of Clipse via "The Funeral" music video. But when "Grindin" came out, everybody in school wanted to rap over that beat. I remember applying for a volunteer position at the time, and I had interpolated "Grindin" lyrics that I wrote on the back of a form I had to give in. Had to lie to the person who conducted the interview. "Oh yeah, my loser cousin wants to be a rapper. He writes lyrics on any piece of people he can find. Yep".
