In fact he then answered the question "Can you grief other players" with an affirmative. Its not unlikely. Its impossible. In both pieces of footage he flat out lied....and it's not just these examples. The guy is a pathological liar.

-zehuti. What? If you mean paying taxes to the US no man's sky had no impact on paying or not paying taxes. As far as it ruining games in general, what I mean is it really keenly exposed how you're not really accomplishing anything when you play a game. For nearly 50 years video games effectively gave us all that little endorphins run when we got the high score, ate the ghost or saved the princess. No Mans Sky just shined a spotlight on the illusion and not only can we see all the wires holding it up, I'm fairly certain the emperor isn't wearing any clothe..

It took you this long to realize how much time is wasted on entertainment? Wow. I realized that so long ago. Doesn't stop me from doing the things I love though, since our current reality does not allow me to do the things video games do. Most video games suffer from a lack of ambition or quality intent. Even the really good ones need something more to really be worth the time.

Entertainment isn't a waste of time when it has a purpose, it can enlighten, enviro rate, educate, build a sense of community, satire, and more. No mans sky does none of those things, same goes for the recent flock of grinding games built around collecting resources.

I know very little about this game, but couldn't you just all go to the center of the universe and find people there if the chance of randomly finding people is that low? Surely they wouldn't be calling multiplayer a lie if there are a bunch of people chilling in the system nearest to the center.

This is worth an update since 2016. Much of this still stings, but the free DLCs over the last four years have made this worth a second look. I still think of this as the "beautiful grind" for the moments you just want to deal with low stress sandboxing. I'll play over a few days, put it down for a week, then come back to it; ad nauseam.

It's been a while now so hopefully the angry people are back under their rocks. I have a question about this game. Did anyone else find the planets with nothing but Vortex cubes everywhere, sell all of them and end up with 30+million... then wonder what the point of money was? Farmed the crap out of them to buy a better ship, and then the next ship I see cost EVEN more. The different ships didn't seem to handle differently, or have any features that made them different unless I built different things on them.. is that one of the "features" people were angry about or just me doing something wrong?

They heard a lot of BS from the creators and various online articles saying how awesome the game was before it was released or even finished. Yes it is. Even if they pull the argument that those weren't the unfinished product footage, they still removed features that they specifically advertised as parts of the game. The multiplayer thingy especially. That dirtbag of Sean Murray has advertised it to be a multiplayer game whereas a few days before the release he tweeted "NO MULTIPLYAR NAAAAAABS!!!" They will probably say : Have you explored the game in it's entirety tpo think there are no battles?" or shit like that.

+Andrew1990R Well, even if it did have multiplayer, your only interaction would be to look at each other. Which is the equivalent of Journey. Journey also being predominantly singleplayer. Sean also said many times in the past that this game is not an MMO. If you want to fight players, make guilds, explore together, that's fine, there are plenty of other games out there that do that better than we can. Multiplayer always seemed like an easter egg at best. Not really a massive game mechanic that would dictate the flow of gameplay.

It's not even the multilayer pissing me off. So much of the single player aspects of the game that gave the game diversity isnt there. Remember the desert planets with the giant sand worms. And the factions, space battles, bunch of survival aspects and rpg elements. Go back and look at the trailers and gameplay demos. It isn't the same fucking game. I dont want to ruin them but someone should sue this company to show the rest of the industry this can't be tolerated. I got cheated of 80 bucks Canadian (god damn 80 dollars fucking 80 fucking dollars). I'm gonna bitch to psn and see if I can get a refund.

Lol, a friend of mine was pretty into this before launch. Asked me if I was getting it and I said no. He said looks pretty good, I said I'm going to at least wait a month and see if everyone still likes it. Judging by reviews, it is literally, exactly what I thought it would be right from the E3 thing. It looked boring. Really boring. Maybe a peaceful little explorer but with no real impetus to actually do anything. Seriously, why did anyone ever think that it sounded like fun to name procedurally generated crap on disposable planets that serves no purpose other than a place to scatter the shit you need to get to the next disposable planet. Why was anyone impressed by the number of planets? They made it clear that it was so huge that pretty much no where you went to would ever be seen by you or anyone else again once you left, and it's all procedurally generated, so they could have just as truthfully said infinite planets. Seriously Minecraft has 5 bazillion planets too if you want to start playing that game, and Diablo 1 had infinite dungeons in 1999. The only thing it had going for it that was remotely interesting was that the iterations they showed in the promo stuff looked kind of lush and nice, but we all know how generation works now, some of it was going to be pretty good, some okay, some pretty dull, and those infinite planets were going to feel like maybe 4 at best. Even as the rumor mill whirred up and features were promoted that weren't actually in the game, none of them were really going to change much, Those big ol space battles? The environment was way too big to be eve online anyway, so even with the promised multiplayer and combat features it would have added like another 4 things for you to do, say 'that was cool I guess' and then never really care about again. I didn't predict the embarrassingly bad UI, glitches, and shitty ports but it didn't surprise me in the slightest. If everything lined up perfectly, this would have been at best as good as the other space sims, but with the benefit of the planets, which I admit would have been a cool feature in Elite Dangerous. Why anyone expected even that modest achievement was beyond me. People are not smart, and they do not pay attention to history.

Honestly this is what happens when an indie developer for PC pairs up with a console to make extra money. The hardware limitations of the Xbox and the Ps4 simply wouldn't have been able to run a procedurally generated game like this with the depth that everyone wants while maintaining "next gen graphics" and a double digit frame-rate. As a result the console company makes the developer take away features so that it can run on their system and won't let them put those features on the PC release as they would be "unfair" for the console players.

I played the game at a friend's house. It's perfect for people like me - those who like exploring new worlds, hyperfocus because they're super ADHD and can do the same damn thing for hours on end without realizing it, enjoy survival games, and are introverts who have very few friends and don't like people in general that much anyway. I found that creative mode is the way to go with this game, because then you can build stuff that doesn't have the same boring layout and you don't have to worry about running out of stuff or getting attacked. I'm also the weirdo who plays Minecraft on Peaceful Survival Mode, so make of this what you will.

To be fair, the game they promised were way better than this one. Exotic planets with beautiful landscapes and dangerous animal, hacking, space factions, epic large scale space battles, exploration together with friends, discover the mystery of the center of the Universe . The promises were blown out of proportion to make people feel like this is an AAA open world Mass Effect when in fact it's just a $20 indie game you play to kill some time. This is the devs' fault for being greedy fucks and lie to their fan base with false promises and visions.

The game isn't bad. It was a fun experience. It just wasn't as good as it could've been. I'm disappointed with the game, but I still don't regret my purchase.

All I know is that my dad bought this for me Christmas 2016 and I'm still playing it to this day. Yeah, it wasn't the best back then, but I loved it, and I love it even more with each update

Well, this trailer should be remade. The game is super fun now. Multiplayer, bases, vehicles, tons of beauty, and so on.
