For anyone watching this in late 2023 they implemented FSR into the game which fixed every blurry texture and jagged lines, its amazing now!!

As a No Man's Sky player from literally day 1 I'm so happy and proud of where it is now.

I have like 20-ish hours on this on switch already. It's my first foray into NMS. Also this is a first party port. Hello Games actually did the porting and didn't rely on Studios like Saber Interactive. That's one helluva achievement.

Bought this game the day it launched on Switch having never played the game before. I am loving it so much so far! Even if I had some performance issues (including a few game crashes) I'm still enjoying this game and think it was absolutely worth it! I've actually been surprised at just how much content appears to be in the game and all the options, and I'm still likely in the early game

I'm about 35 hours in, and it's a great port of a great game. It really is.

One of the most impressive Switch ports in years.

Imagine spending all this time laboring over this game and you finally get to see that: "9 out of 10" I would be able to die happy. A true success story.

As a day 1 veteran with many hours on steam, I'm proud to see the development of this game and glad that they learned from their mistakes and launched a great port to Nintendo switch not just a half decent game to meet the deadline. I'm waiting for the multi-player or even a cross play. I might try it soon and I think a save transfer would be too much to ask right now so we back to day 1 from scratch again.

Yes it’s literally worth it a million times over. Nothing is better than flying through space with my headphones plugged into my switch!!! 🤩🤩🤩

I started playing at 10pn, planning on playing just an hour, as I was already tired. But I played until almost 4am. The time flew. What a game!

This game caught my attention when I saw it in the Direct a while back, but I could tell it would be a port from other, more powerful systems. It had me worried about how good it would be on Switch, knowing how these types of ports end up. Glad to hear that the devs did a really good job! Personally, graphics aren't deal breaker for me when it comes to games, and I can wait on multiplayer. Needless to say, I'll definity be picking this up soon! I played it on my PS4 Pro but the fan was insanely loud…I stopped playing it, but I always thought it’s such a calming and beautiful game! I bought the Switch OLED a few weeks ago and I am sooo happy I can play NMS now in handheld mode 😍

Have it for PC and Switch and I have been having a great time with it on the Switch. Some minor crashes every once in a great while. But auto save keeps things pretty much right where it crashed. Outside of that, they knocked it out of the park. Great work guys.

Hello Games dev team is the example of what ALL dev teams should hope to be. Sean and team took everything in stride, didn’t abandon the game, put their heads down and put in WORK. I built a gaming PC but just due to work and life at the moment I vastly prefer to game in handheld on Switch as I don’t want to be in my computer chair any longer than I have to be after work and I wanna be in bed. I never thought it possible to have this ported to Switch. I am HAPPY to manage my expectations and accept the hardware limitations of the Switch to have this game and explore planets while laying in bed after a long day. Yes. Absolutely.

While I haven’t played the switch port myself, I have seen quite a bit of gameplay of it and I’m quite impressed on how good this port looks. I play this game on PS4 already and this game already has trouble running on it and basically pushes the PS4 to its limit. While it can’t say for certain, this switch port of this game could potentially outperform the PS4 version in some areas. Still waiting for the digital foundry review of this switch port. I’ll probably get the switch port someday but for now I’m going to continue playing this on PS4. Mainly because I don’t feel like starting over but if I ever get the urge to start a new adventure, I’ll probably consider getting this on my switch. Note: I played this on base PS4. This game might run better on PS4 Pro.

As someone who has been playing this game for about two years now, you have no idea how happy I am that more people are getting to experience this game on a new platform and with so many new features. Multiplayer is one thing but i really hope, one day, they implement cross save like in witcher 3.

It's actually quite good on switch. Really happy I can take it anywhere. Multiplayerless is a bit of a downer, but I am sure we will get a form of it. even IF just for expeditions.

Loving it so far. For me, all it's missing is multiplayer and cross-saves.

They said they would have to create a almost new build for multiplayer, I think they should use the cloud streaming for multiplayer only .

So far it's a very popular port in my country. Despite missing multiplayer and settlements, every online store offers only preorders and other ones who had it are already sold out on day 1. Full price. I couldnt get one and I dont like the waiting with preorders.

OMG!! I have been wanting to play this for a long time. I have it on XSX but just don’t have time like I use to to sit in front of a TV and sink 100s of hours in. This coming on Switch is a godsend. I haven’t spent $60 on a game in years and I think No Man’s Sky may get my 60. Should I do it or probably wait for a price drop?

After playing about 20 hours at this point, I’m really enjoying it and I’d say it’s definitely worth the purchase, but there are also some pretty significant issues which the reviewers either downplayed or did not encounter. The game has crashed on me about 6 or 7 times (meaning a crash during a play session is not uncommon), the price discount when exchanging ships/multi tools stopped working for me after the Waypoint update, there are items that don’t appear in my inventory but appear when I am selling items, my starship randomly changed color after reloading a save, etc. Some other more minor non-bugs (I think) some people might care about: Nexus missions and capes are currently unavailable on the Switch.

I have been playing on pc for a long time happy to have it on my switch and it runs great! Thanks, ALEX we love your show!

I bought this and Nier on the same day. Fully expected to be deep in Nier, and NMS be my break. It’s gone the complete opposite, Nier is great but NMS gets my attention every time !

I'm only like 8 hours in on the Switch, but it's a wonderful experience so far. Worth every penny. Haven't experienced any major bugs or crashes yet. They really need to rework the controls though. It's such a PC port and it shows. We need the classic wheel for the quick menu instead of that sliding bar thing, for example. And we need to just tap through the menus and inventory, like how it's done on Animal Crossing. Pretending the joystick is a mouse doesn't really work as well, and isn't intuitive.

Have played 500 hours on PS4, but that will not stop me to get in on Switch 😁

As a huge No Man’s Sky fan, I absolutely love this port! I think Hello Games and Nintendo did an amazing job. I love it so much I don’t even care about the lack of multiplayer. I play this port more than I did on the PS4. Can’t wait to see what they do with this.

Looks great; but what made it stand out for me was that it was an open universe multiplayer game. Until they add local wireless and online multiplayer; I will wait for a sale.

Bit surprised this is getting as much praise as it is - aside from the performance issues (par for the course, sure...but not nothing). But it loses multiplayer, settlements, and cross-progression. Not really sure what to think. Hoping it continues to gets patches and updates to smooth out what's here and maybe implement some of the cut features when the switch successor comes out (assuming it is backwards compatible).

I never played NMS when it was released. I bought it on Switch and i am still amazed by the pure sense of discovery that this game gives me.

im buying this next month ! i cant wait this game is just amazing and its the stuff i used to fantasize our future to be like; this one as well as starlink battle for atlas, everspace, redout space assault, manticore galaxy on fire and a few other related games . truly takes us into that fantasy

Am about 8 hours in, and loving it ! Played it years ago and it was not as smooth an experience as this. Also, download time was weirdly fast, and hasn't crashed yet ! Meanwhile Nexomon keeps crashing every hour, seems like a much lighter game...

Currently has a bad bug that makes all freighters have no hyperdrives. It seems this bug has been around awile and they have no interest in fixing it for new players. Old players aren't affected.

Planning to get this game Can't decide between Switch or PC I'm leaning towards Switch, but I'm not sure i want to play this game aiming with a thumbstick instead of a mouse I don't mind the graphical downgrade and I don't care for multiplayer at all, but I also don't plan to do much portable gaming Any recommendations?

Been playing every day since switch launch and loving it

This review missed lots of important elements in the game. How are the quests? What's the story about? How do the controls feel? How's the music & audio? How's the crafting? How's resource management handled? How does the UI look?... I could go on, but you get the point. Very shallow review overall.

Im 130 hours in. You lose hours and hours just building a base and its fun. Time passes really quickly. Though the first half of the beginning is hard until you learn how to everything. I can spend easily 12 to 13 hours on it daily.

Im really contemplating picking up my first switch (lite) in 2023. This game and Skyrim make it worth it for me!

October 15, 2022 I’m actually impressed with No Man’s Sky on the Switch. I don’t own the Switch but for an underpowered hardware, this looks ps4 base graphics It’s also coming to iPad as a more powerful version of NMS on Switch. The game is targeted for M1 iPad likely, which explains the higher graphical version until you realize Switch is from 2017 and M1 iPad is 2021.

Anyone knows what's the song at the end of the review part? Sounds a lot like God is an Astronaut which I love!

Should I buy ps4 or switch version?

I have completed the game on pc and probably won’t get it for switch purely because I like playing at extreme graphical settings and don’t want to do the quests all over again but still impressed

i dont know if other people having same bug/crash as me. playing for 15 hours, and when opening guide menu the game always crash for me. i hope hello games will fix it. i know its not game breaking or anything. its just annoying to see on the internet what kind of material needed to synthesize.

I have this on my main console (a PS4) and I bought this game for my OLED switch on discount and man, I gotta tell you, I haven't touched my PS4 version at all. The game runs amazing and it looks quite good, it's not a blurry mess like other ports and everything about it feels right. And is it just me or the lighting and atmosphere is better on the Switch's version? It feels more artsy to me. Anyway, they only need to add the multiplayer and then it would be perfect. Not that I've found myself needing it anyway. Buy this game!

The fact this game makes my power hog PC bust a sweat, yet still somehow run on what is essentially a cellphone nearly effortless is really something else. I wonder what black magic HG used to get this to work at all? 😂 This is great though. I know some who have no PC but switch only and this can be their ticket in.

It reminds me of subnautica vibes n that's taken me by surprise for how much I'm just falling in love the more I play and build my bases and explore the world this seems like it's just as well the mp distracted me i didn't see a point in it everyone was off doing their own single player thing anyway so IDK maybe i missed it lol

Back in 2016. I played day one for the PS4 and quit day three. Sold it day 4. It looks like it is time to revisit the game.

3:00 That landing sequence runs even better and smoother than the base PS4 version 😮 On PS4 you have to circle around for ten or fifteen seconds and wait for the ground to load enough to let you land

The Switch came a long way. It's the best console now it has the best games that came out from the other consoles

First had it on PS4 on release, then free upgrade to PS5 is great for couch play. Wired-in PS makes it great for streaming it through the PS Remote Play. Bought the PC version for PCVR. NMS is simply amazing in that mode. Have just one save on PC strictly for VR. Now Switch!? Got it day one, and….amazing. I’m always on the go, I fly more monthly than I spend time on the ground most days. Whenever I’m not the one flying, it’s been nice to sit back and play it. Plug in a headset and those deadhead flights back home pass quicker than I can blink. NMS has proved that the Switch’s built-in speakers are subpar, thankfully we mostly all have headsets to use. I’m glad we got the Switch specific multi-tool and ship. Makes up for those players who already have a large amount of hours in another platform(s). Between ACNH, NMS, and Skyrim I’ve got hours to kill when I’m on the go. I’m glad to see that Hello Games really took this port to the next level, you can definitely see where the graphics had to use special tricks, and it’s just amazing how seamless it feels. They really went above and beyond with this one.

I have it on ps4 love it now I want to buy a switch just so I can play it on the go absolutely incredible game started out on creative jsut to get the jist but will go to normal soon to really get the full experience maybe not permadeath for a while tho 😅

Hmmm...No Man's Sky's comeback may have been pretty big, but I'm pretty sure Final Fantasy 14's comeback which saved the existence of Square Enix in its entirety is the biggest comeback ever.

Torn between getting this and Splatoon 3 to tithe me over until Scarlet and Violet drop next month...

I play it on my steam deck at 30 with better graphics, but this was definitely a feat for the switch it doesn't look bad at all and happy it's on portable devices
