GREAT question. The thing with MLB compared to NFL is that the players DO NOT have the power. They can't force trades or get out of their contracts in away way the way NFL players do. But, every MLB contract is fully guaranteed. That's the tradeoff between CBAs. NFL players have movement but not always guaranteed money whereas MLB players get guaranteed money but can't really move. Which is why most consider NFL a league that pays you for what you WILL do vs MLB paying for what you HAVE DONE. The landscape is getting a bit different with the Braves having paid cheaper long term deals for quality young stars than we are used to seeing in the league. Typically it's where the guy is under team control so long that he puts up crazy numbers and by the time he gets paid he's so good that only the Red Sox, Yankees, Dodgers, Angels and Giants can afford him. What I suggest in this video is not a GAME exploit but a LEAGUE WIDE real exploit used by small budget teams because of the landscape of baseball. The Pirates would typically do this and ride out a guy's team control fully without ever giving him a real contract before trading him on the last year of his arbitration to a bigger market team for more prospects they would have control over. It's just how the small budget teams run. Now, we did see Bobby Witt Jr get money from the Royals (biggest contract they've ever paid out) BUT 26M per year is nowhere near top SS money so if he is one of the top 3 SSs in baseball soon, they win.

No it doesn't because 95% of them don't accept the deal. You are required to offer a contract in the game in order to renew them. The main goal is really to get to that point and pay them 80% of the prior years salary (hence a paycut) which PLENTY of low budget teams do IRL

That's why you gotta watch the renewable contracts. Unfortunately, especially early in the franchise, you gotta keep some guys that you may not want. D potential guys. Older guys. All that.

Yea cash moving is something us franchise guys have begged for and NEVER received. Not sure we ever will. As for the roles, it's bougie and cosmetic. I usually am honest with the player for realism but yea you can offer whatever without consequences

It's all personal preference. The contract style doesn't increase or decrease player interest at all if you notice so it doesn't help get guys at all. Front load can help if you want to have him cheaper later and have more money to spend NOW, Back load can help if you don't have much to spend but have guys coming off the books later opening up budget. Normal is just him getting paid the same throughout. I usually go normal so my budget is constant.

They don't take until preseason to sign though. But it does make sense. Can't trade players who aren't under contract.

Most of the players that havent signed yet can be traded closer to the Winter Meetings in December. A few stragglers will hold out longer, but mostly by mid-December you're good to trade anyone
