I don't hate popcorn ceiling, I was searching youtube, because they are really useful.

I don't have textured ceilings. However, due to my... inexperience with DIY and attempts to repair my ceilings, I accidentally introduced some texture where I patched it all up. I don't hate it. There's something enjoyable about just a little bit of imperfection (particularly as I did it, I'm pretty proud of what I've been able to achieve. It's mine)

I'm literally eating popcorn as I view this. I've never had popcorn ceilings. However, instead of scraping, I would prefer to replace the drywall or put up wood slats and paint it white.

We scraped off our popcorn ceilings and did a skip trawl. It looked so good…. My current house has a type of skip trawl on walls and ceilings. I find it is the easiest texture to match. I’ve actually been patching cracks and holes myself.

I have popcorn ceilings throughout my 1986-built home. I removed the popcorn in the two bathrooms only. What I discovered was, ... yep, just like what was mentioned in the video, the popcorn texture hid some unsightly seams and bad workmanship. So then I was "stuck" with an even worse looking ceiling and had to hire a pro to texture it. The popcorn texture in the remaining 1700 square feet of ceiling in my home isn't so unsightly that I feel compelled to spend thousands of dollars changing it. Definitely redo your ceilings if you can't stand them. But I wouldn't consider it an "investment" that you will fully recover when you sell your home, and you should really be sure it's worth the trouble before you start on that project.

Good idea to have a video about what to replace popcorn with. Everyone just shows you how to take it off

The absolute first thing you should do before any removal of popcorn texture is to test for Asbestos. Period. PS: if your home was built in a certain time period, test the drywall mud and old flooring while you're at it.

Had my texted ceiling professionally removed about 3 weeks ago and I’m still cleaning up drywall dust! It looks great, but it will take a long time before I can look up and say it was worth it!

It's so annoying moving into.a new build to find popcorn ceilings, and they are so expensive to remove. I was quoted $ 8000 for a 920 Sq ft condo. It's just too much

My house is old, very ooold. Only a couple rooms don't have textured ceilings. And those ceilings are hideous. I'm not fond of textured ceilings, but they're better than the alternative. 😱

My popcorn has glass in it. My husband loves it but all I can think about is the dust that it holds

We scrape the popcorn, but are thinking of just painting the ceilings now instead of skim coating them. Mostly because my husband has shoulder surgery and he’s not able to do that and paying someone is out of the budget. Is there a thicker paint that we could possibly use to maybe make see texture less noticeable? We are also going to paint the walls that have like orange peel on them so I think her paint would probably help smooth things out. Any ideas or recommendations?

Instead of ripping it out why not nail something over it? Like 1 1/2 inch wood strips painted white. At least that’s a newer look texture. Or thin wide wood planks with molding on it to frame a light fixture?

I'D BE FOREVER GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD TELL ME WHAT THE "SWIRL TOOL" IS ❤ I WANT TO GET RID OF THESE HORRIBLE POPCORN CEILINGS BEFORE I GO INSANE 😢

Hubs & I dislike it….in our new build builder put in low profile stamped….barely an see it but it’s not smooth. Builders charge a premium for a smooth ceiling.
