As usual, downloads will be freely available at stockfishchess.org/download.
The engine is now significantly stronger than just a few months ago, and wins four times more game pairs than it loses against the previous release version. Stockfish 14 is now at least 400 Elo ahead of Stockfish 7, a top engine in 2016. During the last five years, Stockfish has thus gained about 80 Elo per year.
Stockfish 14 evaluates positions more accurately than Stockfish 13 as a result of two major steps forward in defining and training the efficiently updatable neural network (NNUE) that provides the evaluation for positions.
First, the collaboration with the Leela Chess Zero team - announced previously - has come to fruition. The LCZero team has provided a collection of billions of positions evaluated by Leela that we have combined with billions of positions evaluated by Stockfish to train the NNUE net that powers Stockfish 14. The fact that we could use and combine these datasets freely was essential for the progress made and demonstrates the power of open source and open data.
Second, the architecture of the NNUE network was significantly updated: the new network is not only larger, but more importantly, it deals better with large material imbalances and can specialize for multiple phases of the game. A new project, kick-started by Gary Linscott and Tomasz Sobczyk, led to a GPU accelerated net trainer written in pytorch. This tool allows for training high-quality nets in a couple of hours.
Finally, this release features some search refinements, minor bug fixes and additional improvements. For example, Stockfish is now about 90 Elo stronger for chess960 (Fischer random chess) at short time control.
The Stockfish project builds on a thriving community of enthusiasts (thanks everybody!) that contribute their expertise, time, and resources to build a free and open-source chess engine that is robust, widely available, and very strong. We invite our chess fans to join the fishtest testing framework and programmers to contribute to the project on github.

Joza, thank you for this nice game. I think something went wrong for white in the opening. I think you are probably right when you hinted that white should not get rid of the knight from the kingside. If you could find a game in the exchange variation it would be great. I mean 0-0 instead of d3. Then horse 🐎 gobbles e4, pawn d4, horse d6, Bishop takes c6, d:c6; d:e5, horse 🐎 f5, Queen takes d8, King takes d8. This is my favourite sequence for black. So much strategy there for both sides. I have seen Magnus and Sasha Grischuk playing it as black. I'm sure some other great players are playing it as a black. Maybe Stockfish?

Much appreciate your dedication Bro. This game made my day. Thank you. Question: what if SF14 vs SF14 without human arrangement?
@Me_549
@Me_549 3 жыл бұрын
Probably it will end in only draws, and if there will be decisive games, which is extremely unlikely, it's definitely going to be with white. The reason why engines play prearranged openings in the first place is to avoid too many draws especially against engines with similar strength.

Great video, as usual. Unrelated note: would love to see you comment on a hyperaccelerated dragon TCEC game (if it exists!) since you have a wonderful playlist on that opening!

The middle game was fine for white, but then white decided into an inferior endgame. One tip for human play is never voluntarily step into an inferior endgame, not even if the middle game is also very inferior. Keep it complicated, and try to complicate even more.

Can we get a game where white beats the Berlin defence? Every time I see a game of Berlin defence, black is winning and I get discouraged for playing the Ruy Lopez because no one wants to play the Morphy's defence!

Are you covering the ongoing FIDE World Cup 2021? So much twist and fun happening in the tournament. The chess engines are kinda boring to watch. Only Stockfish is strong.

I think your content choice is great but the delivery feels a bit blurry - the sound isn't as clear as Agad's and the amount of words can be overewhelming - like 50 words explaining a position and we're trying to catch 15 key words - which is again where Agad is more concise, sharp, and has good pacing, making it easier to listen to. Maybe just slowing down 20% would help as well. Imo with better diction, this channel can become very popular. Either way, your grind is appreciated. Especially covering all these exciting ai games.
