HE IS GOING TO GET KICKED OUT, OR CUT OFF! How much Texas BBQ can a pro eater really eat? Today we put that to the test at a legendary all you can eat BBQ buffet in Texas called Saltlick BBQ. This multigeneration bbq restaurant has been serving up oak Texas smoked bbq for decades, and they offer an all you can eat family style BBQ! This includes endless brisket, ribs, sausage, burnt ends, coleslaw, beans, endless drinks, and potato salad. Saltlick uses a live oak in their big pit and you can really taste the difference on the tongue. It creates a very unique and almost spicy sensation in the mouth like I have never had in a BBQ before. They make their own sausage and have their secret family recipes for their regular and spicy BBQ sauces as well. We were at the other location a few years ago and I don't remember the live oak adding such a strong flavor, so perhaps this is unique to this legendary BBQ pit in the middle of the restaurant that looks like an expired water well! Let us dive in as we eat endless and unlimited Texas barbeque, in what could possibly be the most expensive barbeque meal I have ever had! This really is a crazy food challenge featuring some of Texas's best bbq that the Austin Texas area is known for - like other spots like Franklins bbq, black's bbq, and terry blacks bbq.

@@dcbqb19 I do get some food from a Food Bank close to me but, it doesn't last for the month and some of the things they give me, I don't eat and I give it to one of my roommates. And before you ask me, why doesn't your roommates give you food, because they have a budget each month for THEIR food each.

Other than that, I'd say apply for EBT or check out like craiglist or FB marketplace to find some free food or cooking's. Might make some friends that way too

Joel, I just wanted to let you know that “Live Oak” is not young wood it’s a type of tree. Some Oaks lose their leaves but live oaks don’t so the name is Appropriate. All barbecue wood is dried and aged. It definitely has a much different taste than Mesquite. Thanks for the great barbecue show.

Technically you can use "Green" wood too for BBQ which is newly cut/non-seasoned/non-dried.

The Salt Lick is definitely one of my favorite BBQ spots. Salty Oak Barbecue in Corpus Christi is also amazing. There are so many good BBQ joints here in Texas, but some; like the two I named, are amazing. Love the content

live oak is a type of oak - the wood is aged. That 'back of the throat' you were experiencing is from dirty smoke - not from a characteristic of the wood itself

That bridge is the one over the achafalia basin. We call it the basin bridge. That river runs from the Mississippi River to the gulf of Mexico and handles the overflow flooding of the Mississippi River. The basin is a mix of swamps, bayous, bays, and water cutoffs. It is one of the premier wetlands of the United States and spans thousands of acres.
