SYD and MACKY

Күн бұрын

If you've been to Moab, you've probably ridden the iconic Slickrock Trail. Turns out there's another legal, marked trail out on Slickrock that's even better but NO ONE RIDES IT!
A few days ago, while riding his dirt bike, Macky found a side trail on Moab's Slickrock and decided to come back and explore it properly. Turns out it's one of the Slickrock "alternate routes" that is marked on the map, but extremely difficult to find.
Join Macky as he explores the route and explains how to spot the intersections so the next time you go to Moab you can go ride it too!
You can also check out the ride on Macky's Strava and get the GPS track -- / strava

I did the same thing. I have lost 107 lbs. The first thing I will tell you is exercise does not make you thinner. The only way to lose weight is to eat less calories than you burn in a day. Download the Under Armor My Fitness Pal App. Fill out the stuff it asks and set your weight loss goal at 10 to 15 lbs. then log everything and only eat the number of calories it tells you. When you reach your goal set a new one until you reach the weight you want to be. I was 320 lbs. when I started I'm 215 lbs. now. You have to be very diligent with logging and be honest with your self. Good luck hope you attain everything your going for.

Agreed. Everyone has to ride Slickrock once because it is unique and the views are stunning. Once was enough for me, I just didn't think it was that fun, but now I want to check these alt routes out!

Hope Syd keeps her head up. It's tough not being able to ride (especially in a place like Moab) but it's inspiring to see you step away from the bike and listen to your body so you're not stuck being unable to ride for a lobg rehab. Hope things get sorted out in Boulder and you're back to spinning your legs sooner than later.

I once rode my moto on the alternate trail at 16:50 It was very cool back there and I had a great sense of freedom. I couldn't understand why no one was riding it also. It was nice to explore around even where there were no dots and pick my own lines. I think that when visiting there from far away, people on their mtb have no interest in burning extra calories on the alternate stuff because they are happy enough to finish the main routes.

Awesome vid. Hair Brush? Haven’t used one in decades. Ques for you, I had a bit of a scare a few days ago. I rode in 90F high humidity weather and had a touch of heat exhaustion even though I drank plenty of water during the ride. A ride I’ve done plenty of times without issue. Just ordered some Lemon-Lime Skratch to help. What do you do/use in that type of weather?

I have a question. I just watched a video of the True Grit Epic 100 miler mountain bike race and no one wears knee pads even though it's a very technical course. If one wears knee pads then why not also wear elbow pads? Just asking
@sydandmacky
@sydandmacky 6 жыл бұрын
I think they weren't wearing them because even though technical, the way you win the True Grit is by pedaling the hardest, so you don't want anything that might inhibit your pedaling (like knee pads). I don't wear elbow pads because I find that they give me arm pump, even the really good, comfy ones. And i don't ride as fast or as well if my arms get pumped...

Thanks for the info regarding the trail, but you said the trail is marked on the map. Couldn't you have stated the name of the alternate trail, instead of taking so much time to explain what the map says. Sorry to seem like a pessimist, although I'm trying to get the point across that content isn't that great, would have enjoyed more riding or informative videos that people like bkxc and skills with phil post. more riding, more how to videos, and informative videos! thanks for the entertainment
