Travel Vlog #112 | Brasov, Romania
Country 29/193
Today we're exploring in of Europe's most underrated cities - Brasov! When researching where we wanted to go in Romania, visiting Brasov was an obvious choice.
After checking into our Dracula themed hotel (check out our last video), we continued the Dracula theme by heading a bit south to Bran to visit Bran Castle. This is known as Dracula’s castle despite not having any relation to the ‘real’ story of Dracula. Bram Stoker created the description of Dracula’s castle on a photo he found of Bran Castle, & the legend was created!
We drove into Bran from Brasov, where we admired the Carpathians the whole way. Our first stop was for lunch at a nice Romanian restaurant. After finding parking at the castle, we bought our tickets and headed inside!
There is so much history in Bran castle that goes far beyond the myth of Dracula, and it's well worth a visit to better understand Romania's (sometimes dark) history.
Once we were back in Brasov, we saw some of the cities best sites including String street, council square, the black church, and Catherine's gate!
We are SO excited to explore this new (to us) country, so make sure to subscribe to see our 6?? videos from Romania!
Thanks for watching :)

Small doors in size and height same as in Medieval Japan are a Defensive System! It were built for the purpose in case of a Home Invasion the Enemy Soldiers to get inside 1 by 1 and must get into a Vulnerable Position by lowering his head to enter! It was easier to defend in case of an Invasion - Coup - War! Castles are meant to be easy to defend against large numbers with small numbers: for example 100 soldiers could easily defend a Castle against 1000 enemy soldiers! Also the secret rooms, tunnels, corridors are there for easy escape just in case... also good if you wanted to cheat your wife with a mistress/maiden/baby-sitter, for example: Dracula aka Vlad Tepes had a 14 years old peasant girl as a mistress that fell in love in Brasov just outside the wall, when Vlad Tepes helped some people with a Wagon who got stuck in the mud! The girl ( 14 years old ) instantly fell in love with his altruistic personality despite the fact that he was Married and a royalty! She eventually had a baby with Vlad Tepes, but it was just a Bastard with no Throne rights..

In 1989 it was not an execution, it was a revolution against the communist regime. (equivalent to Stalin's regime in Russia) People had a poor life, they couldn't even visit another country, it was like a cage. So people revolted against the dictator, sadly many civilians were killed, but the dictators were condemned to death due to crimes against a nation. For example, the Palace of Parliament was built by that dictator due to his proud and vanity, starving many people and making prisoners work in buildings in inhumane conditions until their deaths. (don't think that the prisoners were real murdereres, back then if you would say something bad about the leadership or have an opinion you would be locked up in the jail.) He took a lot of his ways of leading the country from North Corea, after he visited it. But the vlogs are amazing!

But I am saddened you did not mention the Transylvanian Saxons (Germans), without which we would not have had neither the castle, nor the Brașov city centre. Transylvania is Romania's pearl also because its culture diverse roots: Romanian, Hungarian, German, Jewish (btw after the wrope street you filmed a Synagogue, without mentioning it). Congrats, again, on your clip, but please reflect more of the cultural diversity of the country next time! ❤️

Actually it's a big shame for the welcoming romanians that they was a bit busy with the agriculture and shepherding so producing value when in the meantime others using them work build up on the top of the old Dacians cities and today they suppose that without them that land would become an empty space without civilization. We also should be shamed by covering all the ancestral original culture still existing in the villages from 7-8000 years ago with the "civilization" who destroyed not just the romanians/Thracians culture but probably many others, the romanian culture being just the roots of the European culture. Look to the video" Originile limbii române " and you will understand much more and not just suppose that what I'm saying is because everyone would like to be important or relevant in this world.
