A detail I only noticed in my recent playthrough, during their first fight after forge is knocked to the ground you can see him holding his knife, a really cool bit of foreshadowing. Also loved that he used his arrogance against him to strike him in the neck.

Sergeant Forge is the most underrated marine in Halo, most people hate him with his endless cheesy lines but I really enjoyed him, especially cause I kinda grew up with Forge. I was a kid when I started playing Halo and still one of my favorites to play in Skirmish.

I heard somewhere that forges daddy was in project Orion, so if that's so, it explains a lot about him physically. Maybe also mentally too, since he never gave up, and always figured out a way to at least break even. I think he was originally going to be a Spartan 2, but his dad killed the kidnap team. I don't remember all the details, but I remember someone's daddy killed the kidnap team, and it was possible because they were an Orion team member.

He's the only marine to fight the arbiter and kill him twice and is on a technicality potentially alive due to to his lines in hw2 multiplayer which may not be cannon but still offer interesting input that Ensemble studios played with this idea if they were allowed to make halo wars 2, same with creative assembly and 343. This meaning forge might not be dead, probably being the only marine to survive a supernova as well

The sad part is that Ensemble Studios unfinished drafts in case a Halo Wars 2 or Halo Wars 1 DLC was green lit for them back in 2009/2010 had Forge actually surviving the supernova, apparently the elevator teleports living mass to another shield world or Forerunner installation nearby, the SoF would incidentally get there and detect Forge's IFF tag, so they would reunite, have a heart to heart and the crew would go into cryo forever for god knows how long. In the end, Ensemble Studios was dissolved by Microsoft and Forge's death became completely canon when HW2 confirmed KIA as he was nowhere in the Ark. Funnily enough, it seems like the part about the SoF conveniently arriving vía slipspace at a hotspot of alien activity to fight another day somehow crawled into the script of Halo Wars 2. They also merged the unused rebel plotline with the Covenant species as the Banished are practically Covenant Insurrection. Cool choices!

There’s a short story in the Halo Wars Strategy Guide that details how he got posted on the Spirit of Fire. He assaulted an LT in a bar, said officer was sexually harassing Forge’s own daughter, and refused to take no for an answer. Forge didn’t regret it but knew he’d be court martialed for hitting a superior officer. Cpt. Cutter was in the same bar that night and saw the whole thing. He pulled strings to get the charges dropped, get the LT court martialed, and offer Forge a post on his ship. Forge agreed.

I think part of the reason he chose to be the one to activat the bomb was because of that punch. considering the size of Rippa. That'd have ruptured organs and he would be bleeding to death from the inside. He wanted, like Johnson, to go out with a bang, and not internal injuries.
