I was never a fan of Genesis but thought this was a cool bass line. And if Mike Rutherford played the bass on the recording, I'll eat my hat. I always assumed that it was Verdine White from Earth Wind and Fire. I never thought much of Mike Rutherford's playing. To me, he always sounded like a guitar player playing bass. Same goes for Greg Lake.
I started working on this song over a year ago but put it aside because certain parts just weren't sticking. The part @ 00:52 is played 5 or 6 times throughout the song and each time it is played slightly different. I'm usually pretty good with stuff like that, but, like I said, it wasn't sticking, so I put the song down. Then, a few months ago, someone actually requested it and I figured I'd resurrect it. I forgot who made the request, but if that person sees this, please step forward and accept responsibility. I came back to the song and committed the parts to memory but screwed up on the last one You can barely hear the screw up, but I made sure to make a face to let the world know of my failure.
I'm so far behind on responding to comments and messages because I've been working on this year's Halloween project, but I'm happy to say that it's complete and that Jackie is coming this weekend to paint it. It may not be my best work, but it was definitely the most challenging piece I've done. I put over 90 hours into it and am very relieved that it is finished. I'll try to get caught up on my KZfaq stuff now. Sorry if I left you hanging.
