40yrs ago i couldn't understand the songtext. I couldn't speak english. But i felt and lived the spirit. Today i understand the text....and the spirit comes back. It brought me to the gym as a kid and remains me now to stay there as a grown man.

I sat and watched this classic with my 6 year old son last night after not watching it for about 30 years. I remember the feeling I had after watching this and the other classic movies from the 80s....IT'S SO UPLIFTING AND MOTIVATING!!! asked my son to go upstairs after the movie to brush his teeth and go to bed....I walked in to his room 5 min later and my son of course was throwing round kicks left right and centre......he looked at me thinking I was going to scold him....I simply walked out and smiled.....Mission Accomplished.

This song’s message is amazing. Never give in to your negative thoughts or anxiety holding you back in life to accomplish everything you want and it‘s only yourself that’s holding you back. And start being yourself. Great song to listen to before you do something that you are afraid of doing.

Very inspirational song! When I was 16, I was weak, I didn't believe in myself and was too afraid to fight back bullies. Then I watched this movie and loved this motivational song. I dreamed of becoming a martial artist. Finally I started doing martial arts - the best decision of my life! It changed everything: I became more confident, aquired fighting skills and was in the best shape of my life. I definitely went the way Jason had to go through: From weakling to respected martial artists. I'm now the version of myself I dreamed of when I was young!

This is one of the most inspiring films that I’ve ever watched. I do Taekwondo myself and the message behind ‘no retreat, no surrender’ really sticks to me. It tells me to never give up, fight for something that I genuinely want to achieve and that you should fight when only absolutely necessary. Van Damme is my number 1 martial arts idol. He seems like an absolute awesome, chill dude. I hope that I’m making you proud Jean Claude. NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER!

I love Judo. I trained for a year with some of the nicest people I've ever came across in my life. Especially Sensei. I decided to take a leave of absence so that I can focus on becoming an X-ray Tech. It was hard to say goodbye to them, but I know that one day I'll be back to do Judo and become a black belt one day. I promised myself and no matter how hard it is coming back, I will never give up! Underrated and one of the best movies that I’ve seen.

An 80's classic and it's interesting that there are two versions of this movie - an international version and a theatrical version if I am correct. there are a few scenes missing in one, there are two completely different intro's between the two and one or a few scenes are in a different order to the other. Crazy. But this is one of my favourite 80s movies for sure, what a great time to be a teenager. I'm now 51 and am still surrounded by 80's goodies, will never sell them.

There's so many of these films. Name a sport, the 80's had a film about an underdog kid montag'ing himself into a hero..and likely getting the girl in the process! But yeah, it worked basically every time...because the 80's filmmakers knew how to get the right balance. 80's films kept it like and entertaining above everything else.

"No Surrender, No Retreat" was one of my favourite movies growing up as well. It's a low budget martial arts revenge story from the 80's, but I loved that movie as a kid. The theme song is on one level with "Eye of the Tiger" and it's still in my workout playlist. It was also Jean-Claude Van Damme's first "bigger movie", before he starred in Blood Sport, three years later.
