No reverb industrial ambient jam (STO, Sealegs, Hermod+, Plaits, Rings, Laniakea, DXG)

It took me quite some time to recordthis jam. This jam went from epic huge industrial music with lots reverb, to small detailed ambient music. The patch wanted to be many things at once but whatever I tried.... I could not bridge the different musical styles. Then, like I did in a previous jam, I removed all the reverb effects and everything fell into place!I It’s still a unique beast of its own I would call it no reverb industrial ambient Do you agree? How would you call this style of modular music? Do let me know and please enjoy the music!

IDK why but this feels like itd be good in a videogame. Really like this patch. Good performance. Reminds me of nin a lil.

Ah thank you, I would love to create music for a videogame. Being compared to Nine inch nails is a big compliment. Their music has absolutely inspired me so thank you for the comparison!

Perfect! 👌As a biaspoint mentions, it's easy hack to drown a patch in reverb and call it ambient (and I do it all the time! :)) Creating an ambient piece without reverb is quite a challenge, but you did it perfectly and the track is great! We definitely want more! :)

Thank you again for your kind words! Removing the reverb lets you work in a more detailed way. I felt like I was making a rich embroidery out synth tones!

Nice! Reverb is over used and acts a bit like a crutch in ambient I feel. It is all to easy to drown all in reverb mush and call it ambient. This was lovely and refreshing. Tasty!

Thank you so much! Ultimately ambient is about movement of sound and sense of space I guess. You can create that easily with reverb but it does make everything washy and unclear. The next challenge for me is to make an ambient piece without reverb and without a delay effect!

Great performance! What's that module with the rgb hockey Puck on it?

Thank you so much. That module is Laniakea from Magerit. Its a wild wavetable oscilator synth with onboard filter, distortion and reverb (which I did not use in this patch 😉) and is also capable of playing drones and chords. You can choose to connect several or all parameters of the synth to the big knob which controls all those different parameters. Its quite an amazing module which you do have to tame a little bit because it gets wild fast. Which is also the great thing about Laniakea. You can create many different soundscapes, melodic sequences or noises with it.
