I have an Amish Recipe for "pat in pan crust" also. It is a recipe that was passed to me from my aunt over 40 years ago. It is very similar to TexasPrepper2. It is as follows:Pat in Pan Amish Crust: makes one 8"/9" crust11/2 cps. ap flour2 Tbs. milk1/2 cp. vegetable oil1/2 tsp. salt1 Tb. sugarMix all ingredients together. Press in pan, flute, prick bottoms and sides. Preheat oven to 425 degrees, and Bake 10-15 mins. until lightly browned. Fill shell with desired filling and rebake if needed. Cover rim edges of crust (if any) with foil, so not to burn and bake according to recipe. If your pie calls for a top crust.. double up your recipe and roll out your top crust. NOTE: If dough is to dry add a drop more oil. If dough is to wet add a little more flour. My husband doesn't care for pie crust but he loves this one. Excellent job on the video TexasPrepper2... you made my eyes twinkle.

For pumpkin pie, I never prebake my crust. After the crust is shaped, I put it in fridge for 15 minutes, then smear 2 egg yolks on the bottom and sides of the crust, put it in the fridge for another 15 minutes to dry the egg yolk, so the filling doesn't penetrate the crust. Fill the crust with filling, cover the edges with aluminum pie edge shield and bake.

Gonna use this recipe! I am still recovering from hurricane Harvey in Houston...refuse to buy anything else other than food, no wait, I don't even have a pie pan, drats, will have to invest, but no roller, I figure it's good exercise for the arms, fingers and joints to not have all the gadgets anyway...it's amazing what you accumulate over 58 years of living that you reach for and it's gone, will make do with what I have...was looking how to make pie crust without a roller and this is the best I found...I love that you mix it in the dish. So practical. Hope it works well with chocolate filling for that is my pie filling of choice...going to store now to buy the oil, cocoa, sugar, etc. have been doing without, perfect excuse, Thanksgiving, to load up! Wishing ALL a blessed and joy filled Thanksgiving season!!

I know very little about quiche, so I can't answer that. Maybe someone else can answer your comment. Sorry... but you might want to try it. "Poking" it helps keep if from bubbling up.
@aldiemincey
@aldiemincey 9 жыл бұрын
When making quiche, I always "blind" bake my crusts to prevent it from becoming soggy. Yes, the pie crust would need to either be "docked" before or weighed down during the blind bake. Either of these techniques prevents an empty pie crust from puffing up during a blind bake. As docking may allow some of the filling to seep through the crust, I prefer weighing down the crust with loose pennies. I line the pie crust with aluminum foil and gently spread the pennies over the bottom and layer them up the sides of the crust. Google "blind bake with pennies" for more detailed instructions and pictures. Best.

Naty G It needs to be baked for 15 minutes first like I said in the video. If you don’t bake it first I think the crust will be soggy. Then you take the crust out, add the filling and then bake the whole pie according to your recipe (if your pie recipe requires baking).

I usually use veggie oil, but I think either would work

@harplover1 BTW... we like our stuff a little oily in TX... if we didn't... you wouldn't have any gas to put in your new Lexus... And... I don't like the harp either... I'm partial to other stringed instruments like gee-tars.

I would just do all that in a bowl THEN put it in the pie pan😉

Have made pie crust with oil before - this is the same, except instead of rolling out the dough, you mix it up in the pie plate. To me, this seems messier than rolling the dough between wax paper.

You're obviously on here to learn to cook, by people who know how to cook. Don't be jealous, learn something. Then go watch a video on how to make friends.
