In this video, I teach you how to make a no sew diy face mask with filter. It super easy & only takes 5 minutes to create. Also, this is no tshirt; instead, I used a pillow case.
I wanted to provide people with easy options that they didn’t need to spend money on. These items are laying around your house. No purchase necessary.

Awesome video Darricka! I was looking for one that had a pocket for a filter. I got a brain storm idea the other day and want to share. Slip a pipe cleaner or craft wire in the fold. That way you can press it to lie flat against the bridge of your nose and eye sockets. minimizes gaps. Best wishes, April

Amazing. Love your marks because I don't need sewing machine. I using 3M 1500 Filtrate replacement air filter. Same used in your vents. I researched it and it doesn't contain fiberglass as some stayed. The material is the same as N95 masks. I have fuzzy arts and craft sticks to invert it over the nose to contour it to my nose. I will need maybe 10 inches to fold in the wire sticks. I'm trying it and will let you all know how it comes out. This video is absolutely brilliant 👏👏👏👏

Very nice but slick way of making one, there Tweetie! Great job! I suppose that if you acquired a pillow case that has a high thread count per inch, such as 400-600, that could help considerably but there absolutely needs to have two layers of coffee filter. One filter on each side of a layer of cloth. Example: one layer of cloth, one layer of coffee filter, one layer of cloth, one layer of filter and last but not least one more layer of cloth. In the end, essentially you' ll have 3 layers of cloth and 2 layers of coffee filter. I must say though, Darrica, you did quite alright in my book. For someone that just doesn't have the proper mask to be outfitted with, or true means of being able to sew and you might only have 5 mins to make one with and are limited to what you have at your disposal. Most of the experts would say: Don't sew but make sure that you heat bond the layers with special taping. Don't make slits any wheres near where the mask is supposed to seal off to your face. Yada, yada, yada! BUT those experts are 110 % correct! Ideally speaking, the material that you are supposed to use are of a non-weave synthetic material and / or in combination with a special high rated hepa filtration filter that filter down to .3 micron. BUT, for the lack of being able to get a hold of such materials and the expense of it all is just out of this world! Thanks for sharing Darrica!

This was great and definitely going to try it out!! Just a bit of info on the coffee filters that I recently learned in my research of home filters, the white coffee filters can have toxic bleaching chemicals in them. So if you use a coffee filter, the recycled or unbleached ones are better. Or so they say! Lol.. we're all just doing our best out here, so thank you very much for sharing this! The slits are genius! 💡🙌🏾

Hi Darricka. I've watched a few of these no sew make your own mask videos. Yours is one of the top few that I like… One suggestion: before you start weaving your ties through the mask slits, if you put a safety pin/paper clip on the end, you can thread it through the slits a lot quicker... Thanks for this video! 🙇🏽‍♀️👀👂🏽👆🏽💞

A little trick I just discovered is to put a large straw like a reusable one put it through the area where I will be putting a place through. Next I drop in my lace or cord..I gently start to remove the straw.. I grab the end of my string/lace/whatever, and pull the straw out. I have also used a large. Crochet hook to pull the laces through.

I made 5 of these from an new tee my hubby couldn't wear. They came out perfect. Didn't need a filter with the double tee. But first I used a Scott paper towel which is double play. Cut in thirds and use 1. Thought I was suffocating 😀😷
