I make mind with 2 layers of fabric. Do you start yours with the front of the material down or up? I really like shaping the edges of the fringe also, it looks so much better. I start at the top center and then when I get to the last one, I bring itover and sew it on good and then sew a medium size button there instead of knotting it. Make sure you buy a button that is washable.

what size material did you use?

This is wonderful. but does not come unraveled in the wash? I was considering a needle and thread just at the end; what do you think?

All you do is round off the corners with scissors.
