My radio works but no sound

Thanks for this. Turned out I had a short in one of the rear speakers. The ceramic plate that holds the connectors was broken and the wires were intermittently touching. I have had this problem off and on for years. So very grateful for your advice. I thought my previous receiver wsa the problem, so I replaced it with a new Pioneer. It worked fine at first, and then nothing. I was about to call Pioneer. They probably would have told me to send the unit back. New one would have had the same problem. You saved me from all that!

That saved me from a lot of trouble. I had the same problem. I unpluged the speakers first at the speaker side, one by one. But the problem remained. I then checked the wires and found that the problem was one positive speaker wire that had a striped insulation that was touching metal in the car thas sending my sony car stereo into protection mode. I replaced the wire and all functions well. Thank you very much.

Randomly searched Utube for this issue, and low and behold he was talking about my exact model! What are the odds on that. Great suggestions, will try to diagnose that way.

Great video. I have a 2013 Jeep Wrangler and replacing radio with a Pioneer AVH-2330NEX using a Maestro harness. I get everything to work except no sound from speakers. Can't figure it out. Any ideas? Thanks

My 2007 seems to have blown the rear speaker side of the fader. It's a 2007 Civic EX with the OEM Premium Audio System MP3 XM WMA radio with the XM/AUX. With the fader switch to the front, plays OK. The right door speaker sounds a little rough. Have the bass set way down to compensate for it. However, when I move the fader on the setup button to the back, no sound. Obvious not a picky listener but would be helpful if back worked. Any suggestions? Thanks for the advice and help.

Thanks for the vid but I’m running into an issue how do I get my xo vision 358 head unit to control my sub volume along with the door speakers. The only way I can control the volume for the sub is with my phone and I can only control the door spears with the head unit. Please help

I have a question, i own a 1996 ford thunderbird lx with non premium sound. I have JBL gt6-69's in the doors and in the rear. I also have a Kenwood radio and i want to put a double din in there. But the thunderbirds don't have dash kits. PLEASE HELP, thanks

I just replaced the stock radio in my 96 Tahoe yesterday with a Dual XHD6430 head unit and it was working great for a couple of hours, but then the sound just stopped. The stereo appears to work (lights, CD and Mp3 all work), but I'm getting absolutely no sound at all. I plugged the stock radio back in to see if I still got sound and it worked again, but I cannot get it to work with the aftermarket unit anymore. The four 6.5 door speakers and the front door tweeters all work fine, though the strange stock speakers in the top very back of the truck (something like 4x10 speakers?) are blown because I could always here them buzzing whenever I would play music. There's also a very small stock amplifier under the driver seat.

Got a Sony xplod I installed works great on FM stations and I know the factory amp is kicking in. But when I put a cd in it will read and count likes its playing but no sound what could this be?

Had a 2017 Tocado radio installed in my '09 Saturn Aura. They found amplifier wires but not the amplifier. Lower cost was to Bypass amplifier. Most times I turn on engine, I have no speakers. Once radio turned off while driving. No return call from this Bradenton, FL Audio store. So customer service not there. Any idea what they did bypassing the amplifier if this is cause or is it lose wires. Also did not install Steering Interface as I requested. Was told I do have 'one' door speaker bad. Already a high cost on install and issues from store.

Never thought to check the ground. It's a Walmart Cheapo (in my budget) radio stereo, and I'm in a '89 Volvo 245 with chronic ground issues. Like with the original querent, unit turns on, but nothing from the speakers, fuse is good, all wiring looks good, problem started with the first heatwave of the year so I thought the electrical tape failed but all that looks good too. I'll get out my Mmeter and check that puppy. (Electrical problems? In a Volvo? The deuce you say. I keep a cheap Horrid Fright Mmeter in my car toolbox.) Thanks for the video!

Okay so I have a kenwood stereo and recently I went on a road trip and every now and then the speakers would just stop playing music but my sub would keep getting signal to it because I could feel it and hear it keep going. If i turn off the stereo and let it sit for a minute and turn it back on then it works fine again for awhile then the cycle repeats itself. I have one 12" infiniti sub with a rocksford fosgate 1500 amp. What could it be?

I have a 2002 mustang gt. Got a new kenwood touch screen stereo, the mach one little speakers that come with it work, but the bottom big ones have no sound! I just plugged in my old stero back in and everything works with that one. Switched back to my touchscreen and same problem. I checked all the wires that i spliced together and all are fine! Help!

Hi i installed a jvc dab radio in my car and for some reason the audio is a lot quieter from the rear speakers. Its supposed to be 4x55w. The fronts certainly sound it where the rears are poor. Im using the radios amp not an external one for now. Thanks Martin

when you installed the aftermarket radio did your head unit volume stay stuck , my 04 4runner has same 3 plugs in the back of stock radio 2 used for aftermarket single din h.u.. and My volume control and all buttons work fine but at vol.1 it loud and if you increase it to say 35 there is no change only at vol.0 is there peace and quite. kind of weird huh? Alpine cda-9886 older 10yr h.u. and im trying to tune my vehicle with its alpine imprint sound processor. havent been able to get the software to load correctly. all kinds of problems with alpine. its technical im sure everything is new and in good working order but the h.u. itself 10 yr old great shape i dont think its the h.u. maybe factory amp somewhere. but its regular factory setup not premium jbl or infinty stock double din cd cassette combo nice radio actually but i want this alpine clarity sound. i piad damn good money for it..

SPLchief92, i was wondering if these were songs that you had played, and heard, on that same setup? Or are they are different kind of format on the USB stick you have them on? You might have to update the firmware or you might have to manually change any file extensions the radio can't read.

So I had my double din installed in a 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 LS Crew Cab Z71. The unit has BT, NAV, Backup Cam and DVD. I only get sound when I use the cd, dvd, nav, bluetooth. For some reason the radio portion of the unit does not have sound, and the tuning doesn't work. No sound from the radio portion except hissing. I checked, checked and rechecked wires, and antenna. thanks my radio sound was super low and the front speakers had no sound, the fuses were fine but i saw once was like a little more out than the other one so i pull both put and they were both fine. i then installed both fuses on my amp back and they lined up. Got it fixed now my radio is back how it was and i got sound in the front

Hi Guys, my problem is i just got installed 2 rear speakers and since then when I turn off the radio and then come back in the morning, I have no sound while the aftermarket radio is working fine and then when I take one of my speaker's wire off the speaker and touch any bare metal, the sound comes back. I checked all the cables and installation, they look pretty solid and fine even the ground from the radio is connected. Do you think there is any permanent fix for this issue? btw, everything is Chinese aftermarket (radio, speakers etc)

So I’ve got a 2000 Chevy Silverado just put in a dual Xdcpa10bt apple car play and the radio works come on just fine but the door speakers are distorted like low volume it’s not bad but turn it up they are still kinda low and have static noise. Mine quit after it had either died or on the jump-start, but I bought a new battery and all the fuses and wiring are good. No anti theft code, but the other codes don't even make any sound now and now my fob doesn't work either and it had a new battery as well.

I bought a DEH-150-MP Pioneer offline. I installed it correct it only being my 6th or 7th Pioneer stereo. It power's on to a low volume. I turn the single knob to adjust the volume and nothing no sound. It's a 1975 Pontiac so I've done all the wiring myself. No amp at this time due to no sound issue. All the channels work I've tested them. Yellow Power. Red ignition. Blue is a remote or power antenna not hooked up. Black Ground. Rest speakers should be purple's- whites-grey's- green's. Striped are grounds to speakers. I hear other's say the blue wire tied in with ignition will make the sound work. I put a low amp in line fuse on the blue wire and tried it nothing at all. It's new out the box. Any suggestions. Thank you

Hey Alan I've had nothing but bad experiences with installers,untrustworthy and create damages they don't tell you about. How do you find a good installer and what are some of the signs to look for. Also is it wrong to ask to look at the work before he puts the head unit back to make sure things are properly zip tied and cleaned up. In the past I've had to clean up a lot of unsafe installations. Just bought a new boss 820 brgb head unit double din, installed it and was working with sound and all but then I hit my panel with my palm to clip the trim piece back in and all the sudden all sound was terminated. Check all my wires and all is perfect, reinstalled factory radio all works fine. I bought the radio from Sonic Electronix and I am thinking it is a bad radio or a lemon. It was for a 2008 f150 the lowest model available xlt no power window, locks etc. If it had an amp would not have worked at all but mine worked then stopped when I tapped the trim piece with my palm.

A while back I'm listening to music via Bluetooth on my pioneer avh 3300-nex. Song cuts out. Now i have no audio at all from ANY source. Bluetooth, radio, aux, or cd. Bought 8000 series stinger rca's and installed them today. Connect them outside of the truck, i hear sound. Wire everything back up, still sound. Mind you audio is from a disc. Play 1 song on Bluetooth, still sound. Play one more song on Bluetooth now i don't have any audio from any source once AGAIN. Please help!!!

I just put a aftermarket radio did the turn on amp from the radio harness (red with yellow) everything fine but my left side speakers sounds different from the right side, right side is normal left side sound like positive and negative is wrong but I did switch the + and - but sound the same any idea why. hey alan, so i have a similar problem. my speakers wont play but the sub woofer i have still hits to the song i play. then after about 30 seconds, it cuts off and reads "amp error" on my pioneer radio. my amp is gettin power because my sub hits fine. but my speakers wont play at all. and also my sub sounds like its trying to play the words to the song through the sub and i always thought that it wasnt supposed to so i need some help with that too.

I have an 03 mini Cooper s, stereo turns on, no sound. All stock. It has the KH system and I hear most people saying the amplifier is probably bad.. I would like to do 1 of 3 things. Either bypass the amp by tying the speaker wires together (Instead of them going into the amp) Or putting an aftermarket amp in it's place (if possible) or changing the head unit and adding the aftermarket amp. I'm hearing the stock speakers are useless unless used with all the stock equipment. I don't understand why that is.. if I re wired everything, new radio and amp, why wouldn't the existing speakers work? Any info from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

I have an 03 Sierra w/ stock radio w/ the bose sound. Every time the temp gets close to freezing I have no sound coming out of my speakers. After a while of the truck being on the sound comes back. No issues with sound during spring and summer months. I have noticed that the door chime does not sound either when this occurs. Could this be due to the factory amp?

hello. I have a question. I bought a police chevy impala 2008. it's basically a police issued impala sold back to the public. I notice the chime or or signal sound doesn't make a sound.. The radio works but there is absolutely no sound... coming from them.... all the Speakers are connected but no sound comes.. I drive a 2009 Chevy Silverado. Not long ago me and a friend hooked up a sub to my stock radio and we just had a rig job to do a just for a little bit to experience it. One day I got out of my truck everything worked as it should but when I got in it again the radio would turn on but there was no sound at all from the speakers. I finally bought a new radio thinking that was the problem but even with the brand new radio I have it’s still not playing any sound and everything is wired up properly. My problem is that I can listen to my music fine but if a song has too much bass it knocks my sound off and I don’t know how to fix that but sometimes my radio will be back on within the hour some times it doesn’t at all for a while which is annoying. after I installed two 450 watts 6x9 rear deck speakers in my 07 impala bot my front driver side and passenger side door speakers stopped playing, what may have caused this? the factory speakers are 8ohm and the new ones are 4ohm each, not sure if that has something to do with it?

Most of the time when your radio comes on but no sound and it is wired up rite the culprit is usually the factory amp is bad or is not turning on with the head unit....remember to hook up the blue and white wire on your harness.
