No Time for Caution (Hans Zimmer) - Epic Orchestral Cover

5 жыл бұрынI decided to return to my roots and cover one of my all-time favorite Zimmer songs. This song is one of the greats and it means a lot considering it got me into music production as it was one of the very first songs I covered. The docking sequence from Interstellar never ceases to amaze me and is a perfect example of the magical relationship between music and film.
For this cover, I really tried to fire on all cylinders and bring all I could to the table in order to properly pay tribute to Zimmer. I reworked the song from the ground-up focusing first on getting the percussion as close as I could to the original (bartok pizzicato basses/cellos, clockwork effects, subby swells during the finale, etc). Then I added some additional instrumentation outwards taking some inspiration from Justin Hurwitz's work on First Man (field drum, more classical crescendos, brass/celli leads and adding the full overall range of the orchestra.)
(Yes, I will be doing First Man covers when the time is right - I just have to figure out how to properly pay homage to that masterpiece of a score.)
I'm more or less pleased with how this one turned out, although I had to sacrifice some dynamic range for full loudness which resulted in the final mix becoming a bit limited on the peaks. Tell me what you think and please feel free to give constructive criticism as I'm always learning.

I got super high and watched this movie again (first two viewings were in passing on TV and the science didn't make much sense to me) but then it all started to click. I gained a completely new understanding of time, entropy and existence itself which sparked a deep interest in these subjects where I would spend hours researching the true nature of the universe that schools don't quite get right. I found myself looking right at the source of spirituality the knowledge of the universe hides within itself. It's majestically beautiful, yet terrifyingly incomprehensible. This film quite literally changed my life.

@@yume5338 I've never been high in my life, this movie changed my life sober haha. My understanding of God, specifically how I understand He literally exists like you and me and how He affects our world, became clearer upon watching this movie several times. I know it sounds strange at first, but why couldn't God simply be a human being of higher dimensions, capable of influencing our world and lives from outside of time and space? Perhaps us joining Him in Heaven in simply us being bestowed the ability to exist in these higher dimensions. It all makes sense to me, I struggle to think of reality in any other way.

Because he's aware of you and he's calling to you you can do it! This song is the definition of audible tension, it has a palpable sense of urgency and danger in the first half and has a magnificent hopeful undertone in the second part while never really losing that sense of danger. Actually perfect for a film about space.

In some ways those old black and white images are more spectacular than the modern ones. Imagine stepping out into the void for the first time, all of humanity’s struggles and progress leading up to this one moment - a flash of data streaming back from the cosmos bearing our first glimpse into a future of discovery. Other species on this planet have no conception self and here we are clawing our way into the abyss.

The guitar at the end reminds me of the Half Life: Black Mesa OST which is probably one of the biggest compliments I can give considering that is probably my favorite OST in any game ever. Bravo on this wonderful masterpiece, Hans Zimmer would be proud!

Personally there is one glaring problem with this song.... it ends!! _This_ is one of those rare songs you could put on a 3 hour loop. Just paint, read, draw, write _CREATE_ to it. Anyone else use public transit, simply to have the time to read while listening to instrumental music?? (it drowns out other noises) If not, your welcome. Enjoy you commute to work in 2020. you know that if you right click on the vid then it should say "Loop" at the top then click that and then when it ends then it restarts all over again and it repeats that and its never ending so its duration is infinite
