How on earth does that screenplay deserve a 9??? The terrible cyber-eye transmitter subplot alone brings it down to at least a 7. The lack of a clear villain motivation brings it down even further. So many plotholes and lack of logic in this film. Then there was that entire Cuba scene felt like it was ripped out of a Marvel movie…

While there is no doubt JB will return....No amount of reasoning or explanation can justify killing off Bond Imo. He's a cinematic icon & a British institution.

Ana de Armas...absolutely and without discussion, the best part of the movie. Her banter and chemistry with Daniel Craig was solid gold. She was smart, charming, capable, kicked more ass than Bond in her (unfortunately) one and only scene, and is (IMO) THE most gorgeous Bond girl in the history of the franchise.

I don’t understand how you can give the script a 9/10 but also complain that the villain is lame. You know why the villain is lame? Because they are written that way. So… not a very good script then.

In my opinion it was a huge mistake to kill James Bond a symbol of survival and a masculine fantasy. So, for me is time to say "good bye" Mr. Bond and look on other direction.

RIP to Wright's Felix, and Lynch did a great job too. But Craig blew me away through the movies he helmed. Gonna miss this Bond arc, but looking forward to the next one.

I think Spectre was a very strong film. Definitely underrated!

I enjoyed this movie. Wasn’t crazy about it, but I still enjoyed it. I feel like everyone either loves or hates this movie. It just falls in the middle for me amongst all the Bond films. I just felt sad that he died because Craig’s Bond never really got a good life so he’s a tragic character that never got that much happiness.

James got Mathis killed, drawing him back into the fray after he'd retired. So it's only symmetrical that Bond should be persuaded to come back and not survive.

Enjoyed the "James Bond Revisited" series and was happy to see a detailed, balanced look at the final Craig movie. I liked this movie fine: the 2h43m running time flew by and I was able to overlook plot holes and vague villains (hey, it's a James Bond movie, after all) in favour of some decent storytelling. Craig's acting here is terrific as his character has evolved from 'blunt instrument' to haunted killer to, finally, some sort of peace. Supporting characters were good and the 'Scooby gang' didn't get in the way of Bond's journey. I would have been comfortable with Madeleine and James continuing to be estranged from each other but realizing their connection would be through their daughter. At least they gave Seydoux more to do here than in SPECTRE. The locations were beautifully shot and the set pieces were exciting. This isn't Shakespeare but neither is it an empty action flick. Expectations are always high but I'd put this solidly in the middle of Craig's era.

The cinematography was my favorite part. Saw this in IMAX and it definitely deserved it. Villains.. I agree. Could of been so much better if they just wrote a better final baddie.

This was a first movie i saw in theater after pandemic. Just sitting there with other Bond fans (young and old) and watching it on a big screen was most amazing experience.

This entire"James Bond Revisited" series is probably the best thing Joblo has ever done on this channel. Every single video essay was beautifully written and performed. I couldn't wait for the next one to drop when you guys were in the middle of releasing them. Can't wait to watch this one after work tonight.

Great series, Michael. One of my favourites which JoBlo has produced. I looked forward to it every week during the original run. I loved that you based these reviews on your personal opinion of the films rather than trying to show some sort of consensus. Your passion for the project and franchise really shined through. You should be proud.
