Daniel Craig returns one last time as James Bond, starring alongside Oscar® winner Rami Malek in No Time To Die. Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

The scene when they’re encircled is one of my favourite Bond scenes ever. We’re so used to James always being resilient, never giving up, finding a way. But in that moment he’s done, he’s had enough. Years of mental torment, physical wear and tear, and betrayed (so he thinks) once again. In that scene his spirit is broken, he welcomes death. You see the pain of living in his eyes until Madeline barely pulls him back into autopilot mode, enough just to save them both. This was the most humanised and relatable Bond ever. He wasn’t infallible, he wasn’t omnipotent. He was human, he was damaged, and he struggled, as we all do in life.

@@satiazaputra5885 Brosnan was good at the time, but the second I watched the opening scene of Casino Royale, I knew there's no way Brosnan could have executed it as well, that goes the the fight scenes that followed - no way Pierce was up to it, at that time. Plus Brosnans movies have aged badly, Goldeneye was excellent on release and holds up better than the rest of Brosnans movies. Not his fault, that was an Era of very tired stale Bond stories. The studio dragged Craig's bond screaming into the modern age. Brosnan was your personal favourite. Is he the best Bond? , highly debatable

One of the best scenes, if not the best action scene in the James Bond movies. Physical and mental fatigue is visible and escape is worthy of those who don't let themselves give up. The soundtrack accompanies the pressure of the environment and the car turns with the engine sound at maximum, causing a great impact. It's sad to miss what was arguably the best James Bond since Sean Connery. This opening scene in my view, among Daniel Craig's films, is in first place followed by the chase scene in the tunnel at the beginning of Quantum of Solace
@nickcharnley19

don't forget Bond, is meant to be a blunt weapon, who uses women for a purpose, ( going to get hate on that) but that was how the character was written and in life we know it goes both ways.
@MoonAtum
@MoonAtum 6 ай бұрын
@@nickcharnley19 I don't hate the behavior of the character James Bond towards women, as it is very clear that this is the character's profile and just a stereotype created to entertain, and in real life both sides have this control over conquest, as James does. Bond. The problematization of this profile nowadays is that it will destroy the franchise and create a monster if they want to adapt it to the progressive guidelines of this new ideology that they are pushing down our throats. The problem in the world today is that they no longer want society to have freedom of attitudes, choices and thoughts as before and James Bond is in the crosshairs of these issues that will destroy the franchise. If they manage to destroy it, which is very bad if it happens, I will continue to be a fan of James Bond from the previous ones until the exit with Daniel Craig, that's all. For me, Daniel Craig was the pinnacle of the character and surprised me positively when I initially thought it would be a failure, but anything very different from that for me will be a real failure.

One thing I love about No Time To Die is that the first half of the movie is Spectre 2.0 it's all about bond vs spectre and taking them down once and for all. Then after they are all wiped out in the cuba sequence and the new villain makes his appearance with Madeline in her office(not including the snow Chase in the beginning that is more of a teaser for safin) then the story really kicks in to gear establishing how much of a threat Safin and his organization is that they took down spectre like nothing and shift their focus to Europe and the United States as their next targets

Before Daniel Craig, James Bond could actually jump off an exploding car and not mess up his pomade-perfect hair, or even wrinkle or soil his tuxedo shirt. Daniel Craig was believable as a killer, and not just some dude who can charm the bad guys to death. He is also made the character human. Not only does he get physically broken, but he also gets heart-broken too. Most of all I am glad they decided to make a full story arc of this James Bond with a proper Character introduction and ending.

@@miltontavares9506 I'm just pleased that we got a proper James Bond eventually - they could have seen Dalton's tenure as a "worthy failure" and never considered going for dark and gritty again. I think they were ready to throw in the towel with Casino Royale - they left the formula, chose the best actors they could find (including keeping Judi Dench) and made their 'final' Bond movie the way they wanted to, closely resembling Ian Fleming's first novel where it all started. Nobody would watch it, of course, but it would cap the entire series off nicely ... .... unfortunately, Michael and Barbara's retirement was short-lived - Casino Royale was lauded as the best Bond film ever! Repeat viewings alone brought in terrific box office. Daniel Craig's superb acting and stunning physique had redefined the character of James Bond in just 2 and a half hours! It was a new beginning for James Bond - and it gave them the confidence to try new things out in the plotlines (eg. the ending of Skyfall where the villain invades Bond's lair this time!), with Daniel firmly committed to his role at a level that no other Bond had managed to achieve over so many films - consider Sean Connery's and Roger Moore's last films where they phone in their lines half the time - there was none of that with Craig, he was brilliant in EVERY scene. And so - Daniel Craig's "dark and gritty" Bond got to have a 5-story arc. Superb beginning - lovely middle (mostly) - and devastating end (itself another brave story-telling decision. So what now? I just can't see them going back to a cheesy version of James Bond - they've spoiled us rotten with Daniel Craig, and the audience now expects a brilliant actor as a matter of course [good luck on that!] (+ nobody will ever pre-judge a James Bond by the colour of his hair ever again!)

Brilliantly done as usually a car chase is just a car chase but this had a whole other human dramatic dimension to it taking it to a different level altogether. It's probably illegal to admit this here in Scotland but he's my favourite Bond.

Just saw this Bond movie as it took months for me to adjust from hearing there is no escape at the end like in all the other Bond movies. I still wish he makes it out somehow at the end, but this was a very good James Bond movie. The typical ending for the other Bond movies is after the island gets bombed finding him in a raft with a girl at the end and as MI6 has just made contact with him he tells MI6 to take their time rescuing them. I did think this movies' ending was well done. The threat from a biological type or similar to it with technology weapon maybe making it even more real right now due to COVID. This action scene scene was unique with the pause and very good. Daniel Craig did a great job as Bond and what a finish.

@@AngelofMusic04 I think over time the fan base will get used to it, but I guess we’ve had such a tough time in the world generally that we "felt" like a happy end to the series with Daniel’s version. If that makes sense. There’s enough sadness in the world right now that maybe we wanted our "hero" to beat the bad guy one more time and walk away into the sunset. That’s how I view it anyway.

i got to say this scene alone is a classic in the franchise, it looks like a classic scene in all of james bond movies, but the sound and the chase, and everything is a masterpiece in action, and direction, it was great, to see in a year, with alot of bad movies, im glad we got this after a big hiatus, if it gave us this scenes and others, than im okay, more than 5/5, its more than that. you can see maybe bond has depression like fleming himself after all, and you get the torment, of maybe he doesnt like his life, as many people think he does. its a burden for sure, to follow bad guys, not to trust anyone.
