My cousin switched to cloth pads and said she noticed that her flow went way down, her periods became much lighter. I didn't really believe it or think much of it until when years later I switched to cloth pads and also noticed my flow became very light. I thought I had light periods before, but using cloth pads I hardly bleed at all, it's very very light. I hadn't heard anyone else mention this until I watched your video, so there really must be something to it!

For those that can't afford any kind of bidet, I have a cheap substitute. I have one of the plastic squeeze bottles for ketchup or mustard with pointed tip with cap. I fill it with water and keep on back of toilet. Just uncap, aim and squeeze! Works like a charm!!

I now have plenty of handkerchiefs, Cloth napkins, And family cloths. I have a clean bucket and a dirty bucket in the bathroom. The dirty bucket is full of %6 vinegar and water and has a lid. The clean bucket is open and holds clean cloths. I'll wash the cloths once a week ( By themselves) and hang to dry. The napkins and handkerchiefs can be washed with the clothes. And for the pads? Thank God for menopause! Rocky turned his back being a gentleman during such a personal subject.

You can use an empty Soda bottle filled with water, and a small cloth to effect a “bidet clean-up job” on an ordinary toilet. Sit a bit further back on the seat after going to the toilet, and just give yourself a wash. Excellent for long-haul travel, heat waves, and heavy period cleanup. Easy to do in public or airport toilets when u can’t have a shower. When travelling, you can just toss your drying cloth in the bin. We were destitute for a few yrs, and used all the things mentioned in this video as we had no money. Also, cloth hankies are easier on yr nose than tissues. (cotton vs wood) Howdy from Australia 🦘

You just validated my choices to get a bidet and stopping the use of one time use paper products. FYI, I purchased my bidets from Target for $40. I thought I wouldn't like the cold water bidet but have found it doesn't matter. I use 4 x 6 cut up old t-shirts cloths for most everything. I have several bins I got from when my husband was in the hospital. I have them placed beside the toilets and the kitchen garbage can to have a place to put dirty cloths. I'm looking for a little decorative container for a place to put used cloths for nose blowing, etc. I am about to make my own laundry and dishwasher detergent. Finally, I just purchased an adult tricycle to use instead of the car. (I live within 2 miles of several grocery stores, library, church, dentist, restaurants, and the beach!)

I'm a colon rectal cancer survivor. I have tons of "issues". Years ago, I got a bidet. It is so much better for my bottom health. I almost hate vacationing away from my bidet.

I really appreciate your protecting the environment as best you can, as well as working to save money. I'm recently single, and my ex had bought a bidet maybe a year before we split up. I didn't really like it, but you've inspired me to research further and see if I can find one that works for me. In the meantime, I use rags instead of paper towels, cloth napkins instead of paper, and last year I started using cloth handkerchiefs instead of tissues. I'm not 100% paper-free, but I figure something is better than nothing! I'm recently retired, debt free, and I love checking in to see what ideas you throw out there to help me save my money for more fun things than bills. :)

Hmm...the Family Cloth! 😊 I went to Goodwill and bought flanel pj's for a dollar. I washed & dried them. Then I cut them in 6 inch squares with pinking shears. We use these instead of toilet paper. They work GREAT!

When I switched to cloth pads and moon cups, my period went from 6 days (heavy/med) to 3 days (med/light). Best of all NO MORE CRAMPS!!!! I’ve seen so many comments about lighter periods and less cramps that I’m convinced there are chemicals in disposable products to cause those things. I switched at age 27, had three kids before and three kids after. I think it is a money saver. My $40 set lasted about 2 years, my $20 moon cup is still going strong 5 years later. I used to spend $10/month.

I've had my bidet for almost a year now, and I love it! You're right, it completely removes the need for toilet paper! It is FAR more sanitary, and gets you cleaner. You don't need family cloth at all. You just adjust the pressure of the water jet, do your business, and done! I blow my nose in the morning in the shower. The steam and hot water loosen all the crud, you blow, you rub with your fingers and wash with soap. Nothing gross or nasty about it. You're nice and clean. Some people have a stigma about it, but they're just socially conditioned and are closed minded about better, cleaner, cheaper options. Ignore people that feel compelled to be ugly to you for no good reason.

"zero" low waste living has been the best thing I have ever done for my wallet and its helps the environment/cuts down on impulse shopping. Also reusable menstrual products like period undies, Cups, liners/pads are covered under most insurance HSA card in the pharmacy/amazon/Benfits shop

I've had a bidet attachment since 2008, when a friend of a friend started a company that makes them. I talk them up to anyone who will listen and lots of people who won't. "Once you spritz your crack, you'll never go back!"

GREAT POST!!!💖👍🌼 My family don’t use restroom paper products or paper towels. Half of my family is Japanese and lived through WWII so they know how to “take care” of things without paper products…now they use bidets if they have a western style toilet. ALSO when the Japanese toilet flushes the water that goes into the tank (it’s clean tap water) is where you wash your hands! My family, as well as myself, (I live in So Cal) use old fabric bath towels cut in smaller pieces for what jobs a paper towel would do. Some old clothes that have the right amount of cotton and texture is where we are always recycling old clothes if they’re not in good shape to donate. I also have pretty FABRIC napkins for visitors. I use those reusable pads and liners. The only thing I don’t like about them is: I DIDN’T THINK OF IT FIRST!😖 it’s unfortunate because they are very expensive because no large manufacturing company makes them and sell at a reasonable price. It’s mostly elderly, housewives or people that are handy with a sewing machine that make the good ones. Although I do sew, so I now make my own once I found a pattern I liked and worked for me. Believe me it’s super hard to find a particular shape or pattern that works for an individuals body. I just have to always look for snaps on sale. PS The bidet I’m looking at has “fan dry”. You can set it to cool, room temperature or warm. You can also set the water temperature that you prefer for rinsing to the same levels. The first time I used it I felt like I was an Apollo astronaut. Lol the ones in Japan or much more confusing I have many, many more options. Like you, once I got used to the bidet I would never do back! It’s feels so much more cleaner for both females AND males. Plus nobody wants try to get “stains”😖out doing your laundry. My home has 3 males all over 18 and they do their own laundry. I love bidets BUT (no pun intended) I would get the “air dryer” option and the water temperature option especially for winter. It’s been a game changer for me and my family. 👍👍👍

Years ago in my 20s I lived alone in a small studio apt. $195 a month. I had two big plastic 10 gallon buckets (maybe they were 5 gallon) and used them to do my laundry. One for washing one for rinsing. Just let my clothes soak all day while I was at work. Worked great. I hate going to the washateria.

I love my bidet! We got ours in 2020, too. My cycle stopped years ago. Paper towels can be replaced with rags. I love not having to buy those products.

I absolutely LOVE my bidets. I bought two, one for each of our bathrooms, about a year ago and we can’t go back. My husband and mother were very hesitant however they love them just as much as I do (it took one use and they were hooked). They were $40 each…hands down the best $80 I’ve ever spent.

I took old cotton sheets and made wipes for the bathroom. A container for the pee and one for #2 and will soak in washing soda and wash and hang dry. I use clothes to clean everything and windows. Hanker chiefs and cloth napkins so we figured up we are saving over $100 a month!

My niece has bidets like yours at her house. Tried them and we will be getting some for our new house when we move after the beginning of the year. Right now we are using travel bidets which are are actually a squirt bottle with a bent nozzle. Your tips are great!

Here in Australia I'm totally used to line drying washing , no dryers ! Saves the environment too ! I use woolwash to wash my clothes made from eucalyptus. As far as period cloths go, people here are big time into the "cup" which is reusable. Personally, I don't use any paper towel, I use a European clothe with vinegar on it or disinfect! White vinegar used straight can be used for mould removal, and so many things !

I bought used flannel sheets for $3 at the thrift store to make family cloths and hankies. I also bought a bidet-- hand held style. Love it so much I bought one for the other bathroom!!

We started with the bidet seat style similar to the one in the video. Now we use a hand held bidet sprayer style that also uses the toilet water line and has a simple holder and hook system on the side of the tank. It takes up less space if you are too close to a wall for the seat type. It stays conveniently clean with no issues on cleaning sprayers that can sometimes be a problem on in-toilet spray systems. If the hand held sprayer is on the same side as your vanity, it is very convenient for spray and spot cleaning any laundry or other items you are cleaning. Both are great to keep you clean and to eliminate toilet paper.

To be fair Amazon 3rd Party sellers have to charge a premium because of all the shipping costs to/from Amazon. Plus Amazon takes 1/3rd of the sale price for themselves leaving profit margin very low for the 3rd Party seller. In addition, UPS and other shippers charge a premium for large lightweight product shipping because of the space requirements they take up. Better to shop for products like paper towels at target, walmart, or your local grocery store. Pricing is much better.

I loved my bidet in Italy long ago. Was told people visiting from Russia were using it as a shower or sponge bath spot. So it took me several months to try, but I liked it! I am so much cleaner, even cleaner than using baby wipes. Soap is even an option. My daughter is about your age and she loves her bidet, and hasn't used paper products for 20 years, like you, except for liking toilet paper. She has dozens of the cheap wash cloths sold in bundles. Seeing the rapidly crashing economic trends, she bought a cheaper bidet designed much like a kitchen sink hose spray set with warm water. I just wish you had shown what yours is like inside the bowl. It's pretty. Thank you for sharing your practicality.

Totally with you on all this!! I went full on zero paper products May 1, 2021 and it’s been over a year since I’ve used toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, paper napkins (actually it’s been like 15 years since I’ve used paper napkins), etc. I LOVE it! I will never go back to toilet paper. I DO use what I call toilet clothes, just small swatches of white flannel, to dry off. I do not like drip drying! The ONLY thing I’ve used the toilet paper for is to pick up a dead cockroach and to clean the hair out of the tub drain. I’m not using my cloth towels or toilet cloths for that. Although over time I’m warming up to the idea. And I’ve been using RUMPS for over 20 years. People are really missing out though by not using a bidet. I just use the travel bidet (a fancy squirt bottle) and it does the job every time! I don’t know if I’ll ever even need to install an actual bidet. It feels good knowing I never have to worry about running out of paper products or need to spend another dime in them.

I cut up an old towel into ‘paper towel size’ and had a friend sew edges on it. Use them instead of paper towels for the face. A paper towel roll lasts me over a year bc I only use it for greasy spills. :) I love your videos!

For family cloth Walmart large packaged wash cloths are nice.

I use paper towels for grease and that's pretty much it now. I recently got some reusable pads and a menstrual cup. We haven't gotten a bidet yet but it's on the plan for this year. Slowly but surely making the changes. We don't always do good with changes so it's slow but steady for us

Love this! I bought some Etsy versions of reusable toilet wipes, cloth napkins, and handkerchiefs. And I bought a bunch or washcloths to use as cleaning rags. I completely stopped buying Kleenex and found the handkerchiefs were much softer and also sturdier. And I struggle with congestive allergies, so I use them a lot! However, I find myself still reaching for the tp and paper towels. This is often out of simplicity because I don't want to make more laundry. Or sometimes it's because I'm worried about staining the cloth or contaminating it with icky germs (pet messes). I need to challenge myself to stick with the cloth stuff! (I also struggle with ibs, so I find I need to use the tp and bidet together. Yikes! Tmi! Hope to improve this with diet changes and one day graduate to bidet-only. 😂) Thanks for the video!

I found some flannel on markdown at the craft store, it works great as Kleenex. Bidets are awesome too, I still use TP to dry off but I use sooo much less with the bidet. Menstrual cups are really great.

Good Job! My only concern is bricks degrade and could clog your plumbing. I recommend a small bottle with rocks to weigh it down and fill w/water to displace water in tank.

my Dad grew up on a farm during the Depression, he ALWAYS HAD A CLOTH HANKY when I grew up. I resorted to using hubby's t shirt to make hanker chiefs. I am a big number 2 er, so I do use t.p.

On board with pretty much everything except the blowing of the nose on the cloth. Don't mean to be so gross, but it's really hard to get mucous out of a cloth once dried. It tends to need to be pre treated or scraped off when it first touches water, since it rehydrates quickly and forms a "gel" which is hard to get off in a regular washing.

The first thing I had to do when I got my bidet was to see how far the stream went across the bathroom.... it was a fun expirience

I got a bidet in 2020 and don't ever want to be without one again! I have not had to worry about toilet paper since. I switched to cloth napkins years ago and I have had the same roll of paper towels for 2 years as well. Time to go and cut up some old clothing to replace the toilet paper and make the final switch so I don't have to go buy more! I, too, enjoy watching your older videos but love the ones from when you got Mr. Rockypants. He's such a silly sweetheart! A really cheap bidet is a specially designed squeeze bottle with a long angled nozzle. Fill with water and keep beside toilet. I got mine on Amazon a few yrs ago. Works well.

Flour Sack towels for everything. They are huge, can be cut and don’t fray, and cheap to replace. Also, Diva cup. Instant money saver no matter what age you start!

Reusable pad are good for intermittent incontinence. If you dribble when sneezing, coughing, laughing, lifting, etc. Incontinence products are outrageously expensive. Save money and the planet and use reusables.

We use cloth napkins daily. Old cotton Tee's make great rags. We use old pillow cases & sheets to cover our musical instruments. We use our coffee filters twice. Old socks are great for dusting. 💓

I have cheap kitchen towels I buy from Walmart, that I am now using in place of paper towels. Every so often, I will buy new ones, but DON'T throw out the old ones. They take care of all my cleaning needs. - I've even been researching toilet paper alternatives with cut up old T-shirts and things I look to you PP for all the best frugal suggestions

I use vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Baking soda for scrubbing

I got a bidet in 2020, and it was one the best purchases I ever made! I purchased wash cloths from the Dollar Tree to “dry off”, and at risk of getting into TMI territory, it’s much cleaner than using TP alone. I do have wet wipes that I take with me if I’m out and about since the toilets here in the States only have TP and no bidets. I also use microfiber cloths instead of paper towels for cleaning, and for face napkins, I refashion scrap fabric into nice cloth napkins.

Yep love our bidet too. I use wee wipes (old cut up towels) to dry off and pop them in a small bucket of nappysan. Quick rinse off in laundry tub, then into the machine. Line dry. Saved heaps on toilet paper. I’m still a woman though even though I no longer have periods. That comment really grated with me. Just because you stop having periods when you’re in menopause doesn’t mean you’re no longer a woman.

I have to commit on the bidet. I have one and I love it! I was like you, I was like hey, only people in France or other countries use bidet's. After I tried it and got use to the use of it, I won't go back. It cleans you better than scratchy bathroom tissue and it is especially great if you have hemorrhoids. When my girls were little I wanted them to learn to use a cloth napkin. I knew they would eventually go to a nicer restaurant and should know about them. Bought some inexpensive fun fabric and made napkins. They're reusable and the patterns were cute.

I found some nice Embroidered handkerchiefs at a rummage sale for 50 cent. I'm sure someone spent a lot of time on them. I find they are much softer on your nose when you have a cold, since your nose gets real raw if you blow it too much.

My husband had shoulder surgery on his dominant arm right when 'it' started...lol. I decided to install a bidet, to keep his dignity. He was hesitant at first. But now is a happy user. Me? Loved it from the start!

For feminine monthly products, I switched years ago to sea sponges. I did it for health reasons but, they are also environmentally and financially more sustainable than tampons or pads.

Oh Prepper Princess. I have been wanting to try a Bidet for awhile now. My husband is a paper product addict and we stockpile tons and tons, even before Covid. When all paper products were in short supply at the start of Covid he was even more obsessed with stockpiling it. I'm like we have enough to last for years. I think it was because he grew up poor in a large family many times without indoor plumbing and toilet paper was in very short supply so he NEVER wants to run out. I get it. When camping I use a hand pump siphon and a bucket of water for a bidet. Same can be done at home with a few modifications.

I bought handkerchiefs during the pandemic. Love them. No tissue dust and way softer - can use wash cloth packs if you don’t have a bidet set up. Paper for poo. My daughters love their reusable pads. They totally save money and avoid panic if pads run out.

Box tissue is a MUST for me when i have a cold or allergies. But I buy the at the dollar tree. Everything else, i could probably Live without

I put buckets in the shower with me to catch the heating water and also bathing water. I then use that water to flush toilets, so I am down to very little water waste.

I love 🕊️ you for not buying paper towels. I haven't bought them in 35 years. I have a rag bag for dirty jobs, an old towel bag for cleaning 🧼🧹 and kitchen and bathroom towels for everyday use. I must have 50 to 75 cloth napkins. You will get used to using the red ♥️ ones when you eat spaghetti 🍝. I couldn't wait until you got to the part where you don't need toilet paper. I'm not quite there yet, but willing to consider you're recommendation.

Cracks me up when I see people buying rags! We learned that when something wore out you just used it for something else hence old t-shirts equals rags!

I use a bidet. We bought it right at the beginning of 2020. It is very nice! But, messy BM do require some wiping. Sorry, I cannot give up TP completely. Family wipes as you call them is for non-messy things. I do agree with that. Bidets are great.

We have a bidet and we love it. I don’t know how I ever lived without it. To dry we actually bought a certain colored set of washcloths and we use those to dry for wiping which really there’s nothing there except some water. Then we just wash them when I get a load. I wash them in hot water. It works out great.

I made cloth pads by cutting receiving blankets into strips and just folding them up. They wash well and dry quickly.

I can remember back in the day when grandpa use hanky course grandpa didn’t wash his hanky grandma did and I’m telling you right now I’m never using hankies I will buy the paper

You can order that mocha coffee on Amazon, it comes in a package instead of a can. It may be more expensive now than what you paid for it, but it is still available. I think you get the same amount as in the can. Thank you for making a video on that coffee. I went through one bag last year and ordered another one recently. It makes the best Frappes.

I just can’t totally buy into all of this. The extra amount of laundry you do because of all the cloth that needs sanitizing so has to be hot water costs money as well. Paper products aren’t just for convenience but have improved our health by being more sanitary especially when people are sick in the household or there are several people in the same home. I’m not sure this is the right answer.

We use a bidet but ours is a hot and cold one with the feminine wash as well it was only £5 for the extras and we have months when out water is below 7c which would be quite a shock to the system! We love it I wish they made them for caravan/trailer use. We would be first in line. I love your advise it is so practica.
