Its not by accident, since 1971 Wallstreets , military industrial complex , US chamber of commerce fortune 500 corporations, megawealthy elites ,oligarchy have completely hijacked our government country and lives, they own, control and know everything we see,hear and read. Chomsky a intellectual and scholar has been blacklisted and is on a very short leash, those that stray , lose their livelyhood politicians / media figures included. All critical dissent has been silenced .As a result Americans have become the most uninformed controlled,brainwashed people on the planet.

+Dymogrom China might be the country with the biggest pollution output but the USA is next on the list. You may also want to make yourself aware of the fact that a great many western companies take advantage of cheap labour in China therefore China inherits the pollution that would otherwise be domestically located. Deforestation is a big problem too which puts Brazil next on the list but last time I checked MacDonalds is an American company and soy bean production in Brazil goes hand in hand with feeding those cattle on the cheap which causes further deforestation. We can trace all that back to the USA. I therefore suggest that the USA is responsible for a lot more pollution and environmental problems than they lay claim to. When the rainforests are tampered with on such an industrial scale this in turn is a major cause of the extinction of species at the rate Chomsky mentions (David Attenborough will tell you the same thing and that guy knows what the hell he's talking about). You look at the surface but fail to see beneath it even at a fundamental level. Climate change is an issue predominantly forged by the 1st world. What Chomsky has to say is pretty much bang on the money here. To refute it is ignorance.
@renjay3743
@renjay3743 8 жыл бұрын
***** I thought it was you who was casting blame by singling out China. I wonder if you can answer this. How much of the pollution from China is as a direct result of them manufacturing goods for companies that are located elsewhere in the world?

+Yonas Campbell Chomsky is a liar. Even the co-founder of Green Peace no longer believes in man made climate change. CO2 levels have been many multiples higher than at present, and this was thousands of years before industrialization was even thought of. Mammals did just fine, and an added bonus is that plant life also thrived. In fact, plant life serves as a negative feed back loop for CO2 levels. None of the actual data (Ted Cruz trounced Aaron Mair in front of a Senate committee on just this topic) shows a rise in temperatures except for an anomaly of a warm winter here and there with temperatures returning to normal once that unusual high pressure breaks down. In fact, this happened in my area. We had 3 winters with near record high temperatures nearly every day, but that was because of a stubborn high pressure which caused the jet stream to flow father north. It kept all the cold air in Canada. The 4th winter and we had the normal pattern of low pressure areas, which caused the jet stream to flow father south and allowed the cold air from Canada in. Temperatures returned to normal.

Different skill-set. Academics are great at gathering and analyzing data. Politicians and leaders rally people into action. Sort of the difference between Spock and Kirk on *Star Trek*. That said, Chomsky is the best commentator on politics I've ever encountered. But... Long-winded. Overly-detailed. And not easily simmered-down to sound-bite level (another failing of your typical Spock). But spot-on if you've pay attention and follow his evidence and reasoning.

Rik V Chomsky is a revolutionary MIT linguist whose theory -- that grammaical structures are inborn -- has withstood scrutiny. He has advanced the science, rescuing it from lists of words and grammar rules to a data-driven science that observes developmental cognition through language acquisition.. In short, he's smart. On the side, he uses his skills at uncovering and analyzing data to perform as a Public Intellectual. He leans left, no doubt. But you guys used to have smart people like Buckley -- though now your "intellectual" leaders are yellow partisans like Alex Jones and Rush Limbaugh. A considerable step down. Which is exemplified by your "argument." Which consists of a silly, fact-free personal attack. Against a straw-man Chomsky that would destroy you in a real debate. But, I will give you a chance. I mean, do you have any documentary evidence that Chomsky hates his skin color? Or that his testicles were removed? Or that he advocates opening our borders (FYI -- I've read most of what he;s written. He doesn't.) Or is this troll just typical low-information bluster?

+R. V.S. (Empty Sky) Pity it's pretty obvious that it's never going to happen, this concerted effort in many countries. Our politicians cannot implement long-term plans. They are in power for too short a time. Other than that we as humans can't stop making new wars , raping women, beheading journalists, organizing regime change,... The obvious lesson is there will not ever be a concerted effort. Our best bet is geo engineering, and/or some unforeseen invention (e.g. much better batteries) that allow us to create enough energy without producing extra greenhouse gasses. SO logically what we have to do then mainly, is invest in research. I'm all for conserving nature and wildlife, but not for a naive view of humanity, or for this idea of "fighting climate change". Like an ant fighting a cloud. If anything will save us, it is imo going to be technology, that is our main trick as humans, and it's what we've been doing ever since we took sticks in our hands, or mastered fire, ...

Who would be the better leader and make the USA prosperous again. Who would actually have an opinion based on fact and not dictated by controllers. Who would have enough common sense and courage to do the job? I'm NOT saying we need to elect communists... but we do need to have leaders that represent the majority of people. +ted norton What we have now is a totalitarian, fascist police state. People support our government out of ignorance of the changes and refusal to see the changes (love of GOD and country?), or out of fear. My guess would be that the NSA monitors me and probably most in this room. What freedom of speech? Our constitution is dead. Our voting rights are of non-effect and represent nothing more than a ceremony expected. The government represents the supply side, big banks, and multinationals. If you think individuals have it bad, you should try small business... but, that's another story. Communism tries to make all people equal, which never has or never will work. In a fascist state, the important thing is the government. In a true democracy, the important thing is the people. No democracy has lasted over 200 years, ours included. I have bent over to kiss my ass goodby, but i'm not going to bury my head in the sand. At least I have no children.

@rcchristian2

The cool thing is, everyone is getting more educated. The more educated you get... the more you cannot deny the science. Also if you're a "Karen" and you only care about yourself, and you don't care about the people around you, or the people who will live in the future, then there's literally nothing to worry about. I've come from the same place as you, but I've come full circle... the climate crisis IS bad... but humans will make it past this. The climate is like turning on a hot stove. Changes don't happen right away, but take place over a long period of time. So the stuff we do now, will make effects 100 or 1000 years in to the future. Humans will be dealing with this issue for a long time... AND we are going to lose and even large amount of species on this earth. People who live near the coast, some will get in to deep trouble and have to move inwards. Crop patterns will change and farmers will have to update with it... Migration patters in animals will change as well, and this is going to cause much more species to become extinct. These are the things we cannot change. Even if we turn off the oven today, it still gets warmer, no matter what we do. But we have to start doing something now. There is no doubt. Also with the Nuclear I think that humans will over come this as well. I think that as each countries joins the global community, they have to work with everyone... in order to make money. This isn't just a country economy, but a global one and as we do, I see a natural reduction in nuclear proliferation, it's just going to take a long time and hopefully no one does something stupid. But my point is... now that you realize the true nature of what is really going on... don't worry, we will make it past this. It's going to be tough but we will! Happy new year 2023!

My synopsis of the video: Species destruction accelerating right now - global warming / climate change initiatives have been blocked by congressional Republicans. Trump outright denies the existence of climate change. Trump wants to violate international law by conducting torture at least equal to but preferably more severe than waterboarding. People in Central America fleeing results of military coups and destructive policies spearheaded in part by the US. Global public opinion poll actually identified United States as greatest threat to world peace. Spectacle of Republican primary is frightening people around the world. You can understand why some people in the US are flocking to Trump and rallying to his standard. Trump is kind of a wildcard, some things he says makes sense, some are crazy. US is a very powerful state; do we want a rash, impulsive, person with their finger on the (nuclear) button? Ted Cruz probably even more dangerous though.

Navy subs have to have confirmation from above and by 2 commanding officers, etc.. The Prez has to confirm with generals of The Joint Chiefs of Staff . Trump isn't trying to start a nuke war. @@scottpreston5074 said _"The other Republicans may be more dangerous than Trump"_ This is actually a very good point... but how dangerous actually was Trump? He was not actually a Republican for most of his life. He supported Obama and was frequently donating to the Democrats. Then all the sudden he is pro life?? :) This guy who was cheating on every wife he had?? :) So I don't think he's really a Republican because of comments like this: _"In many cases, I probably identify more as Democrat"_ - Trump told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer in a 2004 interview. _"It just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans. Now, it shouldn’t be that way. But if you go back, I mean it just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats. But certainly we had some very good economies under Democrats, as well as Republicans. But we’ve had some pretty bad disaster under the Republicans."_ And now all the sudden he's a Republican and pro life? Trump was the only one in 50 years, that somehow got Roe V Wade over turned. If you think about that, it's an incredible feat.... This is going to cause issues for many years in to the future. He cut the corporation tax from I think 35% down to 21%. And then he owns over 400 corporations that would benefit from this. Imagine how much money he made right there for himself. He ran his business while in office... he was the first president since the corruptions of Nixon to refuse to release his taxes, so there was literally no transparency in his administration. He then raised the rates of his memberships to his largest golf courses and country clubs to $200,000 per membership. And because he refused to release his taxes, no one will literally ever know if foreign countries were ordering memberships in order to influence him. He golfed at his own golf courses... and the American Tax payer had to pay for this. This money went directly into his own companies during a pandemic. So the more he golfed, the more he made money, because the secret service had to follow him... and where did they stay? At Trump hotels of course... and Trump was even caught raising the rates of his rooms, from $300 per night, to $600 per night (just under the legal limit) and then eventually to $1000 per night. All on the tax payers dime. See: Trump raises the rates for the secret service And also Trump Golf Count Trump also decided to change the reporting on drone strikes. It's all hidden now and not being reported by the government. As he was saying "No new wars", he made 5 times more drone strikes than Obama and now they have stopped reporting it. It's up to outside sources like Drone Strike Report, to inform the public, but there is no oversight to these things anymore. He put Betsy Devos in as secretary of education. Who was protested about, the first day she hit office. Devos is related to Eric Prince, the private military company that ran "Blackwater" the secret private military company that got big time contracts in Iraq, for the Iraq war. Blackwater had to change it's name because of the disaster the Nissor Square massacre" where they killed a bunch of Iraqis. They are literally billionaires in charge of education. So what did Devos do? She started funneling money from public schools and started putting them in to private schools. The effects of this alone is just trying to "dumb down the population". They don't want poor people to get any smarter. Trump hired a coal lobbyist and put him at the head of the EPA (environmental protection agency) Scott Pruit got in to trouble very quickly after he was appointed, and was eventually fired in controversy. But not before they made drastic changes... The eliminated a big chunk of the EPA's budget. The EPA is the agency that protects poor and middle class people, from large corporations. So they sought to dismantle the EPA. After Trump if you've noticed, many warnings on electrical devices that can harm you, have been taken off. Then Trump set out to dismantle the CDC, right in the beginning of the pandemic. He reduced the CDC by 20%... at the beginning of the largest pandemic in 100 years... lol So ... just in summary... Trump has done so much damage and so many good things for republicans, even though he wasn't really a republican. He's also set this wave in to motion, that is moving also over Canada. This Trump turd rally wave... which was responsible for the Canadian Trucker Convoy, and is still going on today. I can't think of anyone in history that has helped Republicans more than Trump...

+dkmeller1 Capitalists owning all the means and having total control over the rest of the population doesn't sound too appealing. Try Libertarian Socialism.
@libsock
@libsock 8 жыл бұрын
+dkmeller1 Is this some sort of strange joke? Capitalism always sees capital focused into the hands of a small group of people, creating a capitalist elite. As money is power, these capitalists have power over the powerless. With no government, this power is absolute as mega-corps can literally form militaries to maintain control. Capitalism leads to what is essentially an "absolute monarchy". In response to your strange critique of libertarian socialism, I think your understanding of what it stands for is wrong. We are people who are sceptical of hierarchy, like the state and the workplace, where the government and the bosses have unjust power. All this means is that we don't want a government and that workers should all equally and democratically own their work. I am really not sure how you came up with the idea that under socialism, everybody owns each other. The whole society and the individual communities is based on voluntary human relationships. No human is 'owned'.

+Rob Bowes LOL Chomsky isn't for the establishment, or against free thought. What Trump is doing is not free thought - it is fear mongering, it is hate speech, it's misinformation, it's advocating for war crimes, human rights violations, and unconstitutional acts. What he's saying is: "Rational people good. Narcissistic, hateful, fascistic, psychopaths bad."

+Pernicion If I sell you a shitty car for massive money by lying about it, that is not free speech, but fraud. If I sell you racist ideologies by lying about history, that is not free speech, but fraud. It's as easy as that. Everybody should be free to make up and share his/her own opinions, but not free to make up and share his/her own facts.

I can stick it. I have for over 10 years in understanding that the 'establishment' is not about human concerns but greed and conservatism - a reluctance to accept the new. Cultural dogma. I fear that we will actually make it as a species now that we are entering a period of catastrophe. Our politicians have pursued votes instead of truths. We have to take control of democracy by understanding how the scams work and how we don't really get a say.
